I think we'll give it a go in tournament football if everyone is up for it?
How's about a £25 Amazon gift voucher for the winner? No posting restrictions and open to all Est1892 members who are happy to send me an address to post it to. Unless I could email it? We'll iron out the finer details nearer the time.
Because it's a tournament with limited time and a limited number of teams, there is a high likelihood of having to pick the same team twice and as such, I think we'll need some extra points to be won and maybe tweak the rules and format.
So, roughly speaking (as this may evolve over the coming weeks before the tournament if there are other ideas):
We go by game days with three fixtures.
1/ You pick a team from those three fixtures which is your chosen team (A team you can't choose again in the group stages). (5pt)
2/ You pick the the outcome of the three fixtures (home, draw or away) (3pts for each correct outcome)
3/ You pick the number of goals in each of the three fixtures (over or under 2.5). (2pts for each correct call)
4/ You predict the score for each of the three fixtures (10pts for each correct prediction)
You don't get knocked out of the game until the end of the group stages. At the end of the group stages, we will hopefully have a table format for all people taking part with the top half going through to the knockout rounds and the bottom half being knocked out of the competition
The points earned in this round would be carried over to the round of 16 where, after the results have come in, the table would be halved again and so on until we have a number of people in the final, where the person with the most points wins.

Albania v Switzerland
Wales v Slovakia
England v Russia
You need to make four sets of predictions:
1/ The team you want to win (and can't be chosen again): Albania
2/ Predictions for the results:
Albania v Switzerland (Home)
Wales v Slovakia (Away)
England v Russia (Draw)
3/ Predict the number of goals:
Albania v Switzerland (under)
Wales v Slovakia (under)
England v Russia (under)
4/ Predict the score:
Albania v Switzerland (1-0)
Wales v Slovakia (0-2)
England v Russia (0-0)
The results come in that day and it's:
Albania 1 Switzerland 0
Wales 3 Slovakia 2
England 0 Russia 4
I get 5 points, 3 points, 2 points and 10 points giving me 20 points for that day.
When we come to split the table at the end of the group stages (say we have 40 participants), we reduce it to 20. If there is a tie, it goes on the number of correct predictions, then on to the number of successful outcomes, etc.
Does that make sense? I think it's the only way to make it so we have a winner at the end of the tournament.
