How many goals between Vardy and Kane this season? It must be 40+ and I doubt Rooney is in double digits. Here is an opportunity to throw caution to the wind and play players on the back of great seasons and Hodgson has reverted to type.

Vardy, Kane and Alli then fill in the rest. Hodgson has gone for Rooney and built it around a player devoid of form or match fitness.

Rooney is a decent number 10 but for me there are better options than him and there is no way on earth he's a midfielder.
