It’s better for clubs to complain than leave it to the managers to get fines for it.

Yeah, it's a nice work around.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostIt’s better for clubs to complain than leave it to the managers to get fines for it.
As said previously clubs are too soft on refs. Didn't take Neville too long on comma to circle around the "product"
The standard is rotten though, but **** all will be done, it's run like a mafia.

Soon we'll have a load of officials from the UAEOriginally posted by peterbread View PostTime to look at recruiting refs from overseas? Teams look for the best for every position, not just on field but behind the scenes, all around the world why do they not do the same for refs? You want to call it the best league in the world then recruit the best you can not just local refs.

Surely Nico Williams gets in trouble for this.

Also hate the narrative that top 6 clubs get these decisions, look at the ones we haven't got, against City and Arsenal etc. I feel alot of people at the non top 6 spin this line all the time without actually paying attention to decisions or gamesThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Clubs need (needed?) to take a unified approach when critiquing VAR and referee performance.
It's hard to get behind another teams VAR criticism when there was nothing but the sound of crickets chirping when we were on the receiving end of the most egregious VAR decision of this and any other season.
That should have been the catalyst for a unified approach by the clubs. Instead it was lol **** Liverpool and lets get on with our day.

I think that ship has sailed, the time was our decision at Spurs but other clubs and managers were saying **** like you just have to accept them, Kompany in particular was vocal about that, but has changed his tune when decisions went against his side.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostClubs need (needed?) to take a unified approach when critiquing VAR and referee performance.

There is a massive problem with crap officiating, inconsistency and seemingly certain teams getting soft decisions, but there is too much of a top 6 against the rest agenda being pushed with alot of stuff in football at the moment, but you only have to look at some of the decisions we haven't got to see that isn't the case certainly for all clubsThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Too many people in prominent positions whether running the games or pundits and journalists seem more bothered by Forest's statement than the decisions. 10 years ago it was excused because refs only got to see it once in real time. That's no longer the case. It stinks.Football without Origi is nothing

I do think the “he’s a Luton fan” stuff was daft and has largely undermined their complaint tbh. Presumably the point that they want to make is that they have been disadvantaged by the PGMOL and its officials through incorrect decisions, not that they want one VAR ref to be regarded as a cheat who shouldn’t have been appointed because they’re a cheat. Also, Forest can **** if with this Clattenburg appointment. Anyway, Forest haven’t done themselves any favours, but have done everyone else one by getting the **** standard of officiating back in the headlines.Last edited by Kenneth; 22-04-24, 11:13 AM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

It does sound a bit childish, but Attwell is listed as being a Luton fan so surely PGMOL should have more sense than appoint someone as an official as for a game which could directly affect the team that he supports. Not saying that there was any bias but it the optics don't look great if something controversial happens. IMO it is something that could have easily been avoided with a bit of common sense.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostI do think the “he’s a Luton fan” stuff was daft and has largely undermined their complain tbh. Presumably Clattenberg has had some input into the Forest statement as well, I don't think his situation in this is a good one or does anything for the good will towards or good name of referees. As a ref he was all for backing his mates etc, Now he will sell them out and stab them in the back for money. Again not accusing anyone of anything but if a former ref will sell out so easily you could ask the question what stops a current ref from taking money if offered...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don't have a problem with Forest highlighting it to be honest, someone needs to, the standard of officiating is **** and incredibly inconsistent. It really does stink. The VAR remit and the threshold for overturning a decision is a large part of the problem IMO. Because most pen decisions are subjective sticking with the on field decision not to give it is the 'right' decision under VAR even if everyone else thinks something was a penalty.
Until VAR is there to get decisions right rather than protect officials these problems will remain. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Absolutely right. The standards of officials is far too low and the process for correcting it is not fit for purpose. That’s the point that needs hammering home, not that the VAR ref was partisan because he supports Luton so might have some less than obvious preference towards their opponents.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years
