De Ligt is arguably the best young CB in the world but this season Gomez has shown himself to be potentially world class. A top side needs at least 3 CBs so I’d like both of them and we could give VVD a rest from time to time and even play Joe at right back.

I would buy De Ligt and play a first choice Back 3 of De Ligt, VDV and Gomez. These 3 with Alisson behind them would immense

I hate a back three and it's unnecessary with that amount of talent. I hear the value in of keeping Joe but we always balance the books, people would have spit feathers at suggesting to sell Phil and replace him with Virgil as well. Joe has surprised me at CB but huge question mark with propensity for injuries which had bitten us hard over the last few years. Add Lovren, Lallana and Sturridge to the exits and we'll have a much more reliable squad.

We play with a floating back 3 when either Robbo or Trent are going marauding down the flanks. So why not play back 3 with Robbo and Trent in midfield primarily and helping out with defensive duties when needed

It's not going to happen, Klopp is super loyal to his players. But a ruthless decision that ended up in signing de Ligt would be perfectly fine by me.

It's perfectly valid, I just don't like the idea of it. You need to be able to rotate those three and that means a lot of CBs on the books. We've an excellent back four as it is, don't feel like we need to be changing it up.

I think Gomez is not an inferior player to De Ligt, Gomez is probably even a better partner to VVD, but I'd love to get De Ligt as well Neres and a couple of other might interesting from Ajax as well, what a remarkable club they are though.

Yep no way in hell I would sell Gomez. At times this season he has managed to look like he belongs beside VVD rather than just being a good defender playing alongside a world class defender.

Same compliment could be said for De Ligt when he plays alongside VVD for Holland.



The only question mark I would have over Gomez would be how unlucky he is in terms of missing time with injuries. But ability wise a fit Gomez in our team is a no brainer.

Gomez and De Ligt in the same squad as VVD would be proper depth of quality especially if the fourth CB was someone like Matip.

The advantage Barca have over us if we get through is that they have their league wrapped. The rested loads vs Huesca and don't really have any tough games left so they can play a second string side in league games during the champs league ties. It's a huge advantage to have whereas we have to go full strength.

I think too much emphasis can be placed on resting players. We had loads of time off earlier in the season lost rhythm and drew a couple of winnable games.

We look fit and we have players coming back into form and fitness.

Huddersfield is friday night which we'll have won by half time in first gear anyway so nothing too strenuous there before the first leg and Newcastle sandwiched in between the two legs. Not exactly that bad plus we can rotate our whole midfield, Gomez for Trent etc if needs be anyway.
