It could also encourage players who are genuinely concussed to get up & continue playing if they’re already on a yellow, since they don’t want to risk getting a bad hand from the likes of Cootes.

Putting on unlimited added time (like now) seems like the best solution from a bad bunch imo
So exactly like the clear and obvious calls they are making every week then??
We are here for a good time not a long time....

We’d get disproportionally penalised for 50/50’s/accidents.. happy seeing a solution that can’t be used as another covert way to disadvantage us
      Hello mert.

I was thinking about this, but not sure its practical in football, 1; the game moves at a faster pace & 2: because very quickly the team with a player down will play the ball in the area around the injured player to gain the advantage of the ref stopping play.

That's a subjective decision, at least if you're off for 10 minutes you can argue on the grounds of player safety rather than being a punitive measure.

Mandatory time on the side-lines for any head injury. Its responsible, would protect the players and also stop the cheats exploiting it.
            *Except Michael, who died.

You would certainly only stay down if you needed to then.

But does that no mean that players who shouldn't be carrying on are trying to?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
