I was thinking about this, but not sure its practical in football, 1; the game moves at a faster pace & 2: because very quickly the team with a player down will play the ball in the area around the injured player to gain the advantage of the ref stopping play.Originally posted by Scratch View PostMake it like rugby, allow the physio to enter the field of play if it is safe; referee can play on until the ball goes out of play or until it enters into proximity of the fallen player.

That's a subjective decision, at least if you're off for 10 minutes you can argue on the grounds of player safety rather than being a punitive measure.Originally posted by Cerbie View Post
But I suspect it will be more easily addressed via the issuing of a card for simulation rather than changing the rules or adding a new precaution/punishment.Was muß, das muß.

Mandatory time on the side-lines for any head injury. Its responsible, would protect the players and also stop the cheats exploiting it.Originally posted by Norbs View PostPlayers need to be called out for feigning injury. If implying a head injury lead to a 7 day injury lay off they'd curb it. These are ridiculously rich men being arseholes*Except Michael, who died.

But does that no mean that players who shouldn't be carrying on are trying to?Originally posted by RichC View Post
You would certainly only stay down if you needed to then. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
