He’s a top class box yo box player, if you want to compare him to one of ours I’d say he’s more like peak Henderson. I’ve a lot of Arsenal mates and they are decent level headed guys, it’s the online contingent that are arseholes. We have plenty of those as well.

Gabriel better than VVD
Rice better than Gerrard
Raya better than Alison etc

Tge mad thing is that I don’t think Saliba is better than Tony Adam’s or Sol Campbell, or Raya better than Seaman, Viera is better than Rice and Henry/Pires better than Saka

If they knew their own recent history then they should compare to that

That's the only one that in time may become closer. Don't think Saliba will ever be better than peak VVD but if he continues to improve (and he only turned 24 this year so still a young CB) then the gap between peak Saliba and peak VVD might be as great as it currently is.

That's still not to say I think Saliba will reduce the gap enough for it to be a close run thing, but he is a quality defender and would have him in our team beside VVD in a heartbeat.


Rice is a funny one. The him vs Gerrard is just clickbait, and as you pointed out, they are very different players.

Gerrard was a individualist type player, whereas Rice is an amazing team player.

Stats wise they are very similar both getting about a goal every 3 games on average, having played around 270/280 games for Arsenal.Pires numbers are everso slightly better but he came in as an established player whereas Saka had done similar while still developing.At the moment I would say they are probably about the same level but Saka should get better and surpass Pires

Our current ‘malaise’ is defo flushing out the bellends in our fanbase. It’s fine to discuss thoughts and the like as we do here but the total overreaction that is currently happening just highlights how spoiled we’ve been with insane winning runs over the last 7 or 8 years.

Rice is technically miles ahead of peak Henderson, he's a fantastic footballer & has one of the best all round skillsets in his position. We haven't even seen Rice's peak yet either but I'd take him in a heartbeat for LFC. Hendo was a grafter and a great captain, Rice is a grafter but he's a class act in terms of his footballing ability.
