Denmark captain Simon Kjaer has been hailed as a “hero” for his role in helping stabilise team-mate Christian Eriksen after he collapsed to the ground. The playmaker fell without anyone around during Denmark's Euro 2020 opener against Finland in Copenhagen.

Kjaer ran towards him, stabilised him on his back, cleared his airways and started CPR before medics arrived.

Doctors were quickly on the pitch and continued to perform CPR on Eriksen before he was carried off on a stretcher. It has been confirmed that Eriksen is awake and stable in hospital with Martin Schoots, Eriksen's agent, being told by the player's father that he "breathes and can speak. He's awake".

Yeah I wondered what sort of protocols would be in place for situations like this. I suppose it depends on the outcome of his prognosis & the likelihood of it happening again.

It's an atrocious format. Hard to care about the group stage when only 1 third of the teams will be eliminated after all those games.

Players are always told to play to the whistle so no way you can let the ball go to get the offside decision because even with VAR its no certainty it will be given. Forcing the defender to play the ball makes you active in the play and the officials should be blowing for offside.
