Not having that the Italians were the better team tbh.

England the better side in the first half and the requirements when you're winning so much different to trailing. Italy clearly on top for 35 mins in the second half and England coming back into it towards the end and ET.

I thought Southgate over stacked the squad with attacking mids and forwards and not enough CM's. They were crying out for another mid in place of Mount/Sterling all second half before the equaliser. Should have took Ward-Prowse rather than Ben White, even Milner would have been better.

Kane was ****ed and not pressing. What's the point in Calvert-Lewin or out of form Rashford?

The decision to put those young lads on pens was utter madness. Put that pressure on Henderson not a 19 year old.

Don't think Southgate has done a good job given what he's got to work with, two easy routes in tournaments and blown it. England should/could have beat everyone they've faced this tournament, just because his way has won up to now doesn't mean other ways would fail. The fashion in international football is to keep it tight and the odd goal going forward, England could have blown Italy out the water in that first 30 mins.

Needs to convert Maddison/Saka or someone of that ilk into a box to box midfielder before the World Cup

I hope Jones gets a look in at the World Cup -

      Jones Rice Bellingham

I think Rice will get better and might learn to release the ball once his broken the opposition lines. I thought he did that so well then **** his pants and got tackled too often.

Mount did well for spells but was missing for a lot of the game.

I think Southgate should have had a counter attacking back up plan with Sterling and Rashford as the outlets. Henderson could have replaced Mount, Rashford for Tripier.

Im all for players who aren't confident in their abilities in taking a pen putting their hand up and admitting they're **** at them and not taking one. Takes guts owning it IMO.

Wish Morata would admit he cant take pens for Spain for example...

That’s all fair. But Italy were the better team, not miles better, but definitely better. Chiesa going off was massive he was destroying England. And then look at the Match stats.

            Italy 66% possession

            19 shots to 6

            6 on target to 2

Totally agree with your points though, England were great on that first 30 but other than the goal struggled to create actual chances. That second goal would have won the final but they never seemed likely. Kane was only on the pitch for penalties and I was assuming so was Sterling. The pens tactic was truly baffling.

A home final. A great draw. It really was the moment for England to deliver.

              Seriously, Kalvin Phillips.

I'd say you've a 3 out of 10 chance of chucking that medal into the crowd and it landing on a better player.
Coady did the same and he didn’t kick a ball.......

England were second best tonight, after a really strong opening 30 mins they were poor. Chiesa going off was the only thing that ensures it didn’t end in 90 mins. He was brilliant.
7-8 hours after the game and I am still having trouble wrapping my mind over that penalty lineup. Imagine penalties in the final of the CL, and Klopp sends Salah first and Neco Williams for the fifth penalty.

It doesn't always go to the 5th penalty though. What's the point in having your best penalty taker go last if he may not even get to hit one? I'd definitely have the best taker first.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
