**** sake. I genuinely didn't mean anything by it.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

          "White knighting it"

Feck me it gets better and better. Man with gay god daughter does not like comment that uses being gay as part of a cheap shot joke and saying something about it is "white knighting it"

Your logic kind of means people should stay quiet about anything they find offensive. Piggy nailed it with his post.

And the just a joke line is a weak excuse.

Let's make jokes about being Jewish, about being Muslim, about skin colours and so on, it's all fine right as long as someoine says it is "only a joke" ?

Just because a joke is made without malice does not mean the comment cannot be found offensive or ignorant by some.

And again I will repeat that I have at no point attacked the poster over it in my initial comments and not thrown out comments about being part of a "woke brigade" or "white knighting". I went after the post not the poster.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I'm sure you weren't trying to be horrible Slinks, I don't think there's a bad bone in you, but there's a bit where you can say "hands up, it was a bit off" and it's done and dusted. It's more the comments saying it's absolutely fine that are the issue. It's not the 1980s any more, and the acceptance of it doesn't really lead to a very welcoming atmosphere for existing and potential posters.

I'm not going to chastise someone on a football forum when there was no malice. Like I said, if anyone who is relevant to the topic is offended by it, I'm sure they are perfectly capable to speak out publicly or privately

Or you have the right to talk about things that you consider to be offensive. I'm white but I can't stand racist comments. How is that not relevant to me?

Was your god daughter offended by the comment?

Anyone from the LGBT+ community who post on here want to give their opinion on Slinky's post? Do / Did you find it offensive?

Sure mate but whether or not you or I find it offensive is subjective, so we could go around in circles about it in the other games section or the general football thread. Now that's reductive imo.

I don't understand how that is reductive or was that just a little shot to use own word against me?

And that is why I was trying to be clear I was attacking your comment and not you and also why I said in a post that a joke can be made with no malice at all by the joke teller but still be found offensive to some.

I don't have a problem with you as I am 100% sure you were just trying to be funny and there was nothing else there from you.

My issues are partly with the archaic undertones of the joke and with the fact there is an issue from some when a person finds such a joke offensive and also with the fact I have seen first hand the impact such "jokes" have on other people.

I also don't really give a toss if people want to nip at me for daring to be offended and don't really give a toss if people to want to defend the right to make cracks about minorites/gender/sexuality and so on.

People can defend what they like and people can argue against what they like.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Not at all, we can both have an opinion about it. I didn't see any malice in it and judge things on context. I don't get offended by jokes about me or not about me, that's just me. In this case it's not about me and if some others are outraged on behalf of the lesbian community, personally I'd rather hear from that community.

I said reductive because we can go back and forth and not achieve anything as we clearly have different views on what is funny and what is not.

That's still not reductive but I'll definitely agree with the second part of your sentence.

Imo us going back and forth about what's reductive and what's not reductive, we'll it is reductive? But absolutely you are entitled to your opinion and to express it.
