Anyone from the LGBT+ community who post on here want to give their opinion on Slinky's post? Do / Did you find it offensive?

So when you post in other threads and say something a politican did to other people is wrong or if there is a thread on child abuse and you find what was done as being wrong, did you go ask any of the people directly affected about it before you decided if it was ok for you to say you were offended by something?

Or do you just find some things offensive and some things not offensive using your own set of values like a normal person?

And to answer your straw man esque question about my god daughter, yes I have seen her sometimes get upset when she was targetted over her sexuality when she was younger.

I have seen her get angry when she has had abuse thrown at her when coming out of a gay club and I have seen her very angry when a person told her that her "type" should not be allowed to exist.

So I have a good idea of what she would laugh off and what she would react to. Now she might not have reacted to Slinky on a website, but the same joke made to her face by a stranger in a bar might get a sarky comment back from her.

But don't see why her reaction should dictate whether I am allowed to be offended or not. I'm my own person and I draw my own lines.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Are we arguing primarily about the comparison of the player to ‘a lesbian’, or the comment suggesting that most lesbians look like that? Dom’s objection to the former (misogyny) seemed a bit strong imo. Comparing someone to a stereotype, particularly one not based on an innate trait, is fairly mild. The second part is a lot more objectionable. This is where pragmatism online can help things run more smoothly, without policing the first, the second post doesn’t happen and nobody spends the morning talking about wokeness and abuse of minorities.

Those are some mighty broad shoulders you have their Jaco. Hoisting the entire LGBT+ community onto them and going into bat for them, irrespective of weather they want / need you to or not.

Sure you can be offended by the comment, as is your right. However that's where your offence should stop.

Appropriating the voice of an entire community and being offended on their behalf is awfully ****ing cheeky of you. You've no real right to do so.

It may have been meant as a joke but it's pretty reductive, basically saying lesbians look like ugly men.
You need to draw a Vennton diagram to prove that not all lesbians look like gay men

If tonight's results stay the same then Everton are back in the bottom three

Arsenal take a deserved lead against forest.

That Forest keeper is a liability.
