For reference, please see Mr A TaylorOriginally posted by Cerbie View PostWas it the VAR call or the ref refusing to accept the VAR recommendation? Either way, it was farcical.
I watched it with a United supporter, and he called handball in real time. Neville was the same on commentary.
PGMOL will have a lot to do to improve its level of officiating next season. They really are in danger of demonstrating to the PL and the fans that they are not a fit for purpose organisation. It will be interesting to see how the English refs get on at the World Cup in the summer.

It illustrates how far away VAR is from being able to handle the hand ball ruling. It’s wild that it wasn’t overturned.
it's gone beyond the beyond at this stage, they've twisted themselves into pretzels with the rule, that they haven't a clue week on week when incidents happen. It looks so amateurish/incompetent/corrupt on times. We've tried VAR & for some bizarre reason, they cannot seem to get it right.... every single week an outrageous 'error' or 'lack of consistency'. I'm more than happy to roll the dice, be done with it and just back to normal. I feel it kills the celebrations of goals and takes away the essence of the game of football.

And the refs just let it slide.Originally posted by peterbread View PostThis. There is zero attempt at winning the ball and is only trying to take the player out. Ridiculous decision.

VAR needs to be a separate entity, not someone who is, in all likelihood, mates with the onfield ref. And no sending the ref to the screen, if a team of impartial refs (say 3?) unanimously agree, overturn the decision, if it is not unanimous, leave it as the onfield decision. And give them a 90s time limit to decide too.

I'm sure you've seen the stat, but it's crazy that the dirtiest most physical team in the league are the only ones not to have conceded a penalty or received a red card this year. Disgusting.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostAbsolutely mental again. The refs are deciding the champions more than ever.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
