Are we going to see us and Belgium in a contest to see who can score the most own goals. Lining up at opposite ends and banging crosses into the keeper as a target man to score in his own net.
Or just a boring kick fest as we see who can get the most cards whilst still having a team for the next round?
Oscars all round for that performance.
Attacking throw ins going back to the full back etc, that was the most 'exhibition' of performances i've seen in a 'competitive' match.
I was berating our naivety as Belgium were racking up the yellows until : Januzaj will never play for Belgium again. I always wondered what happened to him as he broke onto the scene like cruyyf and slowly went backwards. The kid is thick, not sure if he meant the goal or miss kicked his conversion attempt. Perhaps England coerced him into forgetting himself in the moment. Did you see Henry giving him a 'pep talk' as he came off, then final 15 minutes as Southgate tries his poker face, Martinez couldn't hide his fury at being 1-0 up.
After Rashford was played clean through, I'm like how's he gonna miss this convincingly, well done son. Then his free kick - safely 2-3feet over the bar and Wellbeck safely toeing the ball out for a GK was genius.
Now bring on Spain, for a heroic loss in the semis and the watershed for the England national team as we finally get savvy at tournament football!

Gimenez vs Ronaldo might be more interesting as Gimenez can be a lot more cynical than Godin.
Godin on form is the one more likely to perform a hard as nails defensive masterclass on almost any player, but with Gimenez, even though he is an excellent defender cut from the same cloth as Godin, you always get the chance of him turning a flashpoint turning a game into a personal vendetta and that is more fun to watch
What we need is for Ronaldo to smirk at him in the first minute and then sit back for 89 minutes of Gimenez trying to make it look like he was going for the ball
I know Nev mused on this before, but we really outdid ourselves when we bought Coates those years back. Probably the only Uruguayan centre back that seemed more suited to peace rallies and bongs than being a dead eyed harvester of forwards.
