You could argue that Neville was making the point about "knockout football" but it's a weak argument - although theoretically you have subsequent games to make amends, why potentially put yourself in a must-win situation when other stronger teams will be managing their squads for the later rounds, so he's just being a hypocritical cunt.
Using Neville's logic, Trent could have come on vs USA and given away a pen, lost the game and thus put tournament participation on the line for the final match vs Wales, so his comments tonight are ridiculous. The amount of ball washing he received when piping up about the proposed Euro Super League was astounding; he an absolute cunt.“His brilliance going forward is out of this world but we are talking about knock-out football and it will come down to a moment,” he said on Sky Sports.

On a happier note, at least our "Fearless Ambassador" provided some respite for those of us with Premier League withdrawal symptoms, by giving us a taster of our usual fare to keep us going until the season resumes. From the min-by-min commentary:

The standard of football so far has been shocking, you would wonder if the weather is playing a bit part in alot of teams being so lethargic. The atmosphere has been terrible too for the most part.Comment
