    The World Cup 2022 Thread

It's almost at our doorstep so let's get talking about this...I cannot see this one being a success without proper fans at it! Qatar are not known for football so all the money in the world cannot generate years of passionate fans...just ask Man City!
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

    Nothing to really talk about.

It is a blatant sports washing event.

Countries and players are not going to boycott it, so it comes down to whether fans, match going and tv viewing, can give it the sort of viewing audience that makes using ****house regimes less viable as WC destinations in the future.

Not going to happen of course as lots of the sorts that cry about PSG, City, Newcastle, Barca etc having Middle eastern sports washing links will be tuning in to watch this farce and adding to it's viewing figures. Just watch how long it takes the Linekers, Nevilles, Carraghers and similar money grabbers to be lauding how great it is, and how over there is far better in every way than they expected and that the leaders of Qatar are making great strides in hman rights and other such guff. Meanwhile Neville & co are using their high profile positions on tv to highlight the real evil in football - American owners of clubs.

Sports washers are slowly but steadily buying the soul of what would traditionally be the working class sports (footy, Boxing etc) and it is being readily accepted by the masses.

The Middle East world cup can go get ****ed. Will not be watching a minute of it.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Mere soundbites from All footballers and Governing bodies when it comes to Human rights, racism etc End of the day money talks and all obey...How many nations and individuals have pulled out of the world cup ? Same logic applies to other bed elements in society that creep into sports.

Way I see it is if you watch this world cup, then don't be crying about City or PSG buying success.

If you feel that strongly about the WC in Qatar don't watch it. Don't buy the merchandise or consume any media associated with it.

I'm encouraging as many people as I possibly can to boycott it.

It'll make little to no difference in the grand scheme of things but you'll be the better person for wanting no part of the blood stained charade.

For a few reasons, this world cup is a bit of a watershed moment for me when it comes to footy and watching it.

Think it may be what kills off my interest in international footy altogether and I know that if LFC ever gets sold to a middle eastern regime or something similar, that's it for me there as well.

Big chunk of my interest on boxing has been killed by things like the crime cartels in Ireland getting their mitts into everything from local level ABCs in Ireland right up to being involved with really high profile names like Tyson Fury in the UK. So have infested the lowest levels and the highest levels and loads inbetween.

Same with the Oil money being more and more involved with boxing and of course the not so discreet links between Irish crime and Dubai.

Just reaches a point where the certain sports, or rather where they seem to be headed at present at the highest levels, just seem worse that the crap that came before and I really cannot see it getting any better.

I really thought at least one country or at least a handful of high enough profile players, maybe ones close to international retirement, would have had both the morality and backbone to jib off this world cup and publically say why they were doing so.

                  But alas not.

Yep Ireland too. We even went as far as to give Stephen Kenny a job to ensure our boycott.

Come sham WC time, we can just have a two man thread with us commentating on an epic Ireland vs Scotland WC final that ends up being a 15 all draw that goes to penos.

Might the the only way an Irish team manages to pass the ball accurately at distances over a yard.

                            Off to a good start.

Two Jocks and a Paddy boycotting it so far.

Need someone from a country that plays decent footy and that will have a team at it to join us.

Any Germans or Dutch on here?
