Out of the homegrown academy trained lads Hammill and Lindfield look the only genuine prospects to me, which is a bit disappointing isn't it? It's been too long since we had someone break through at a young age and really make a difference for us.

He didn't give the youth team players any chance at all, not even in the reserves.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Who mentioned the Scouser Academy? Oh I remember now - it was you Dan.

So far our academy hasn't produced one player of note, Scouser or otherwise.

Which ones would you have given more chances than Houllier did then? And the reserves was never meant for kids anyway, it's just Rafa's new idea.

Always thought Houllier shoulda blooded John Welsh before he did. Coulda been a good player.

Le Tallec, Pongolle and Otsemobor is three.

ALT and Sinama didn't even play for the reserves that often because Houllier wanted older first team players to play for the reserves. The reason is probably that Houllier wanted the reserves to win the games.

Rafa is now using much more young players for the reserves and by that way they will get better even if they lose a lot of games.

                lol

I was merely saying that Rafa is slowly bringing in young players to fill it. I get the impression that you think it should be bringing through SCOUSE talent from your comments, thats all.

Ideally, 11 Gerrards would come through but that wont happen.

See what happens when you try and read what isn't there Dan? You're trying to put words into my mouth fella.

I'd love some scouse kids to come through - don't get me wrong - but more importantly I want us to produce our own talent - wherever they come from.

John Welsh was wildly overrated because we had **** all else to offer in the youth department and liked him cos he was Scouse and a bit hard, he is Hull standard yes, Liverpool FC no way.

Pongolle was given games at the same rate by Houllier as by Rafa, ALT had a ****ty attitude, and anyone who thinks Semmy could've become a first team regular has serious issues.

                      So we bought Salif Diao...........

I stand by it - I'd have liked Houllier to give him a shot at trying to make the next step.

thought his height went against him. maybe if he was taller he may have been taken more seriously.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                        * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Height never stopped David Thompson though did it

And he wasn't good enough either, so what? Neither of them should've played for our first team.

Thompson I think we might've kept, not sure what happened there. But anyway, point is that Houllier never had good enough players coming through to give them more games than they had.
