Thing is though, if Richards goes to Chelsea, unlike SWP, he'll most likely get a regular game. Essien's been playing RB at times, Geremi too and the portugese lad isnt a long term solution.
Ready made position for Richards and he probably knows it. TBH, i dont think a move to Chelsea would stunt his career like it has SWP.
He'll be in there until he ****s up, and then Mourinho will drop him, and he will have to work very hard to get back in the team, that seems to be how he works.

I still think it'd be a bad move for him.
We'll have to disagree there mate, IMO if he goes there, barring any disasterous performances, i think he'll more or less be 1st choice.
He is currently the second best right backin the league in my opinion, cant bring myself to say the name of the best, but I love Steve Finnan and wish we had a left back of his quality.
Finnan is a good player but has two obvious faults. 1/ He is **** in the air 2/ he is indecisive on the ball. He is certainly one of the best RB's in the division but point 2 means that he is not really suited to get involved more in our attacking play in the way I feel Rafa will want our full backs to do (personally I feel that Neill if bought in will be cover for Finnan this season but will in the long run mostly play at CB - he has good long passing just like Sami, he does however badly need to stop giving away cheap fouls).
I know thatit goes against the train of thought here but i really think that to move the team to the next level we need an alternative, more ball playing RB.

Finnan is a great defender and extremely consistent. He is the highest placed Liverpool player in the Actim Stats and we should count ourselves lucky. He may not be a goal threat but he is safe as houses. Neil on the other hand is a menace. 30 odd yellows and 3 reds in two and a half seasons. Ridiculous.
Coincidentally anyone see that penalty he gave away yesterday, the man strikes me as a liability, and if he causes us to concede a few penalties (which we don't normally do) I can see plenty of fans getting on his back.
I want Lucas at Anfield, and I want him to break the legs of Ronaldo, Neville, Lampard, Robben and Terry, not necessarily in that order, I'm not fussy.
Dare I say that Neville has been a better more consistent right back than Finnan?
