Do we need a new car park attendant then ?

But in all honesty Beckhams career is now in decline, his best days have gone and getting him would add little to the team. I think it's fair to say that it's similar to Robbies career he's over the top now age/fitness wise but can still do a job at top level the difference is that Robbie is Liverpool through and through and his attitude and enthuisiam must rub off on the training ground especially with the youngsters.

    I'd rather go for Hargreaves.

p.s. I'd like to think Robbie will get another year as he's not had much of a run this year to get a bit of form but when he has played he's done nothing wrong. If a new striker is on the cards then let Crouch go, he's proved himself to be a good player but what we need are great ones.

I remember when we signed that Ince ****. Beckham is probably the only signing that could actually make me feel worse...

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.

No way. He's past it (wasn't ever that good anyway) and would be more trouble than he's worth with his image and thick wife and all that.

        Now let me get started...

I think a new start at a new club would re-invigorate him, kickstarting an Indian summer in his career. I'd be happy to benefit from that - he was a great player.

he will never sign for us though

Looks like it is all moot anyway

just been posted on the bbc:

David Beckham will hold talks with Real Madrid next week over their offer of a new two-year contract.

The former England skipper is out of contract at the Bernabeu in June.

His spokesman, Simon Oliveira, told BBC Sport: "There is a significant deal on the table from Real. It's slightly more than he's currently on.

"They are the only club we are genuinely talking to at the moment and another meeting is scheduled for the second week of January."

Some British newspapers had reported that the deal had stalled because Beckham wanted complete control of his image rights and Real were unwilling to comply.

Under the terms of his current contract, Real own 50% of Beckham's image rights.

David intends to play a major role for Real for the remainder of the season

                  Beckham spokesman

But Oliveira said: "The primary reason for any decision David makes will be a footballing one.

"Decisions about his image rights and salary are obviously important, but they are not deal breakers."

Under Fifa guidelines, Beckham has been able to openly negotiate with other clubs from 1 January because he is in the final six months of his contract.

And BBC Sport understands that major clubs from England, Spain, France and Italy have already expressed an interest in the 31-year-old midfielder.

Oliveira said there was no chance that Beckham would leave the Bernabeu during the current transfer window.

"David intends to play a major role for Real Madrid for the remainder of the season," he said.

"He wants to take time over this decision. It will be the last significant deal of his football career. He will know by March what he is going to do."
