Mascherano wants to quit West Ham

    As reported on the BBC:

Mascherano wants to quit West Ham

Mascherano has become a peripheral figure at the club
Argentine international Javier Mascherano has told West Ham that he wants to leave the club.
The 22-year-old arrived at Upton Park along with international team-mate Carlos Tevez on 31 August.

But he has played just six minutes since the defeat at Tottenham on 22 October and the midfielder said: "I must get out of here.

"I cannot stay at West Ham any more like this, without playing. At my age my game will stagnate if I don't play."

If I am not playing in the West Ham team I will have to leave to continue my career

    Javier Mascherano

Struggling Hammers boss Alan Curbishley has been linked with West Brom's Nigel Quashie as a replacement.

The 28-year-old midfielder joined the Baggies from Southampton in January 2006 and has vast experience of battling against relegation.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Spanish club Real Zaragoza have been linked with Mascherano, who added: "I came to England to do well but I have not had the opportunities necessary to show what I can do.

    606: DEBATE
Why would Liverpool buy a player who has failed for a side that is third from bottom of the Premiership?

"If I am not playing in the West Ham team I will have to leave to continue my career with another team."

But under Fifa rules Mascherano is not able to play for another club until the end of June.

Fifa rules state that one footballer cannot play for more than two clubs between 1 July and the end of the following June - and Mascherano has already turned out for Brazilian side Corinthians and West Ham since last summer.

However, national associations are able to apply to Fifa for a dispensation - potentially opening the way for Mascherano to end his frustrating stay at Upton Park.

Italian side Juventus reportedly pulled out of a move to sign Mascherano citing the complications with the player's contract.

Mascherano has played in seven games since joining West Ham in August, five in the Premiership and the two Uefa Cup ties against Palermo.

no wonder, he can't even make the bench...
"I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

"You would've been happier if you'd chosen to join your mother in her world. " - Ogami Itto

Tough ****! He should be made to rot at West Ham. No-one put a gun to his head to sign the lucrative contract he's on. I hate these ****ing big time Charlies who think they are bigger than a football club. He should be taught a lesson and made to understand that he is not the greatest player in the world and he has no ****ing right to behave like he is.

****ing loser, face it ****-face, you're not bloody good enough

                I'm cool

Everyone knew he didn't give a **** about West Ham and was looking to use the club as a stepping stone, but he came out with all this bull**** that West Ham are a great club blah blah blah.
Now, rather than fight for his place, he's being a typical moaning Argie **** and trying to get FIFA to bail him out.
It's just wrong, he knew the rules when he signed up.

On the other hand you could argue that he never wanted to go to West Ham in the first place and was forced to say those things by his 'owners' who are the ones making all the money. Young Argie kids from the poverty of the Barrios like Mascherano and Tevez are signed up by unscrupulous conmen, sorry, agents who make Eric Hall seem like Father Christmas...

You could also say that he is apparently the hardest trainer at West ham and always putting in 100% effort during games. The fact that despite playing well in games he is being dropped for Hayden Mullins and Lee Bowyer is probably driving him to despair. If given a proper chance I am sure he would show all his doubters wrong.

So why is he being dropped?

Is he not as good as Lee Bowyer and Hayden Mullins?

He need time to settle in and West Ham have had a very poor start to the season so they can't afford to give him the time he needs.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

I heard that as well I live in the Eastend and know some Hammers and they say that Tevez and Mascherano have been training hard and giving 100%.
