Pele plays for Southampton and scored last Saturday. End of argument I think.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

It's OK spending 2 million on Solano or Paletta, that's minimal risk, but I wouldn't pay much more for a South American.
          Why be so bombastic?

Like you wouldn't have wetted yourself had we signed Aguero, or was that El Diego?, I forget.

Anyway if we can get Mascherano on loan till the end of the season, then have an option to buy if he cuts it, that will be a great bit of business.

And to be fair to the lad he hasn't really been given a proper chance at West Ham to prove himself. It's the same with Tevez, they need a run of games. Tevez has looked good everytime I've seen him play yet he keeps getting dropped for stiffs like Zamora and Harewood.

If he's good enough to play regularly for a fantastic National team - in competition with players that were described at the world cup as :

Strengths: No other side in the world can match their midfield inter-passing. They also have impressive strength in depth in most positions. bbc

                  He's got 20 caps and he's only 22.

Got to be worth the risk - if we want to win our league we will need to recruit a few more diamonds - and where better to go mining than into the seam of midfielders that include Riquelme, Cambiasso, Maxi Rodriquez, Pablo Aimar, Leandro Samoza Messi & Luis Gonzalez.

He can also play right midfield and he could strike up a great partnership with SteG.

I also thought Speedy would be better but i'm assured by Spanish reds he's was mustard last year. If we get our left side working we'll be in business.
It's my job to handle life and death situations on a daily basis. It's what I do, and I'm very good at it.

Although Tevez hasn't set the Premiership on fire, perhaps if Pardew/Curbishley had realized that the Player of the Year in the Brazil and Argentine leagues might have more about him than Marlon Harewood, West Ham wouldn't be the situation they currently are.

As for the other one, his career at West Ham aside - he has played 6 minutes since October - can anyone fill us in on whether Mascherano is any good?

He was good at the world cup and was apparently wanted by the scum and Arsenal before strangley signing for West Ham. That's about all I know of him.

Mascherano and Alonso is the same type of player.

If Mascherano can settle then we would get a player that is as good or even better than Alonso.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I think you'll stuggle to find many better than Xabi.

I have seen Mascherano play a few times for Corinthians and not just in the World Cup. He is an excellent player.

Alonso is probably rated as the best passer in Europe and Mascherano was probably the best passer in South America before he left.
