Great AFII ... the good old days.

On another point, if he DOES sign, it'll be ANOTHER CM who doesnt get into the box and offer a goal threat...

And how do YOU know that I don't know his motives?

unlike you i don't trust everything i read, and i don't pretend to know his status at west ham, but i know how good he is at football and thats the only thing i can comment on, and on his football abilities i want him to liverpool...

Not if Rafa want to speed up our game and that has been one of our biggest problems. Sissoko is a good player but he slows down our game.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Controversial. I don't see how it improves the team to replace Momo with Maschareno.

In fairness, unless there are people here who watch a lot of South American club football, most of us haven’t a clue about Mascherano. He looked good in the World Cup, yes, but we all know that’s no barometer. And he obviously can’t be judged on his farcical spell at West Ham.

I like Momo but once we have all the legs on the table Rafa's style will need quick passers of the ball for 90% of the games. Momo isn't the best passer but is great breaking up opo's play but if we have the ball he's not needed IMO.

OK, I'll leave that, but I prefer to change other areas of the team before we look at replacing Momo.

Anyway, what's your formation then? Gerrard on the right?

I thought, you'd have mentioned this well before now.

My concern with this potential signing, isn't that he's a good player, because obviously he is, it's the fact he is *another* sitting deep and holding CM, and in all honesty we can do without him.

There are much greater problems in the team/squad than getting a very good sitting CM.

If he comes in as backup, eg Alonso OR JM, then it's not so bad.

But if Rafa wants to play him alongside Alonso or Sissoko, then it's a problem.

I was going to take umbrage at being called an old tart but it's fair comment I suppose. I am trying to be less of a tart though these days.

For clarification: I thought he only called you daft - it's everyone else who calls you a prick.

                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Personally, if we did sign him, I'd love to see 4-3-3 given a go. Something like...

                            REINA
                            FINNAN-CARRA-AGGER-RIISE
                            GERRARD-MASCHERANO-ALONSO
                            BELLAMY-KUYT-GARCIA

Not necessarily. Xabi does sit but if he were given licence to get forward more often then he can be effective. He’s deadly in and around the edge of the box and he could score 8-10 goals a season in a slightly more advanced role, IMO.

He’s also shown signs of getting forward a bit more of late.

I'm quite surprised that people are willing to see Momo dropped so easily.
