On reflection, that's more like it, raising the standard for competition for places always keeps players on their toes, but he hasn't been able to do that at West Ham, actually, Id say that the m/f at WHU has worsened since his arrival, (which might or might not have something or nothing to do with his arrival btw) what's to say he is able to do it at a North West club where the climate is even colder!

the 2 argie's haven't the support of thier fellow players and when your in a relegation fight knowing they're only thier as a shop window its not suprising the only player playing is Tevez as he's futher up the field.

What little i've seen of him this year is they don't pass to him.

Of course, which is why I went down that road, and it makes perfect sense when you see it in black & white, and maybe, just maybe they will find solace & comfort in each other! (in a supportive way of course)

If Rafa gets him in on loan he´ll have pulled a masterstroke indeed and I can easily see him moving Gerrard to the right in some games, specially in big games and with Kewell, Momo and Zenden coming back I don´t think we have much to worry about. Who knows, we might even grab Tevez in the summer once he has settled in the Premiership

And it will give Benitez endless options also, he can go for attacking midfield, defensive, possession, energy or creative. Only fault is that only Gerrard is a real goalthreat.
