That's football fans for you.Originally posted by Fiddy View PostSure and I'd completely understand that - but since he's been over here he's done very little. Hell I'd have been excited myself if we'd got him at the start of the season. Just pointing out that maybe people shouldn't expect too much, AA already has him replacing Xabi for example
Remember when we all thought Gonzalez was going to be the next Maradona ?
Oh, just me then...

Only Chelski's would come close IMOOriginally posted by Morphorino View Postback on topic tho, seriously then would Gerrard, Sissoko, Alonso, Maschereno (if he came good) be the best midfield selection in the prem?"the correct decision would have been a penalty for us a red card for Gattuso and a yellow for Stevie"

Only Barca's would have a case for being as good/better in the whole world let alone the Prem I reckon. Even then I think ours has more variety as Xavi and Iniesta are similar and they dont really have a great defensive specialist.Originally posted by Morphorino View Postback on topic tho, seriously then would Gerrard, Sissoko, Alonso, Maschereno (if he came good) be the best midfield selection in the prem?

He's probably got enough self confidence to dislodge others from there place i'd imagine mate, if he hasnt we shouldnt be signing him.Originally posted by lfc4ever View PostWhy would he come to us if not going to be 1st choice, would that mean the old SG to RW again to accommodate him?

He can't even do that as west roast ham, but if he's happier sitting on our bench than their bench, then why not?Originally posted by Chris View PostHe's probably got enough self confidence to dislodge others from there place i'd imagine mate, if he hasnt we shouldnt be signing him.

On reflection, that's more like it, raising the standard for competition for places always keeps players on their toes, but he hasn't been able to do that at West Ham, actually, Id say that the m/f at WHU has worsened since his arrival, (which might or might not have something or nothing to do with his arrival btw) what's to say he is able to do it at a North West club where the climate is even colder!Originally posted by Morphorino View PostRafa won't buy him to bench warm, he'll want him challenging for a spot, much like the Agger purchase last season

It's a fair point, but a manager like Rafa who has experience of Argy players is more likely to get the best out of him than a Pardew or a Curbishley, who seem to prefer more to work with British and in particular english speaking players.Originally posted by lfc4ever View PostOn reflection, that's more like it, raising the standard for competition for places always keeps players on their toes, but he hasn't been able to do that at West Ham, actually, Id say that the m/f at WHU has worsened since his arrival, (which might or might not have something or nothing to do with his arrival btw) what's to say he is able to do it at a North West club where the climate is even colder!
The problem he's had at West ham is that they can't afford him settling in time because they need to get out of their terrible position, whereas we can. If it's not working in a game we can throw on Alonso or Sissoko to change things up.
If he comes to us, I'm confident he'll be a success.Thomas Hicks Senior
