Anyone know any names of strikers who score goals, have pace and flair and are available?

    I don't

i think buying a striker is very difficult.

you very rarely will get someone who will score 20+ goals a season on the cheap.

but also, spending a load of cash will not guarantee 20+ goals.

yes, i also think there will be more money available. i don't think moores would sell if he was told there would be little investment in players available.

        So in light of that.

        Ashton, Bent, Dafoe?

We are talking about strikers here. The likelihood of finding a player who is gonna shine for a top team and none of the other top teams are after him.
        That hardly ever happens.

There are a few teams that seem to have a front row seat on the market.
Man U, Chelsea, Barca and Real and I want us there to with the new investment.

i don't think defoe is better than anything we've got.

not sure about ashton, bent did very well in an average charlton team last year. just think they will try and price him too high because he's English, as per usual

Totally agree Rhodri. There aren't many great strikers around, I thought Shevchenko would be a smash hit but at 30 million he's failed in his first season, don't put it past him to do a Drogba and score by the bucket next season.
Cisse banged in the goals at Auxerre and had loads of pace, he was a failure for 14 million.
Morientes, bags of skill, great scoring record, failure here.
Baros, loads of pace, loads of goals at the highest level (international), failure here.

There are no easy options and the great strikers are already owned by big clubs who will not sell.

A player who we could afford, who's club is willing to sell and who would agree to come here.

Well, the big teams take a chance on someone.

In a few years Torres, Villa, Huntelaar, could be up there with the best and worth a skriljon pounds.

                    Chilli

Funny how all the ones you reeled off came from abroad.

                    see a trend?

                    Buy British!

i think all 3 of them will involve breaking the bank. and i'm not sure any would guarantee goals.

just a gamble you need to take.

Remember the Giggs, Butt / Keane/ Ince Beckham /Kanchelskis combination

Scholes couldn't get in the CM of their 1st 11 - he was played up with Cantona & Cole. Then when Yorke, Solskjaer, Sheringham and RVN arrived they started to move him back.
He's an attacking CM, Cantona played as the playmaker just off the main striker and that's where I'm saying you wouldn't play Scholes or Gerarrd.
They can play just in front of the CM's but not in the role we are talking about i.e. Cantona, Berkamp, Dalglish, Jari etc etc.

All transfers are a gamble. If you worried about them not turning out, we never sign anyone. It's a matter of pros and cons, as with everything.

Scholes was played exactly there in the early part of his Utd career - he played off the front man.

some are far less of a gamble than others

you gamble on players like pennant, 5/6 million, you gamble on someone like torres, 25 million.

                              big difference.
