Agreed - this needs perspective. There was only Gerrard & Bellamy of the starting eleven who'd really be classed as first team - three if you give Sammi the benefit of the doubt but I doubt we'll say the same next season. This was simply our second string against theirs. When you chuck second team players against each other odd results happen - just check out our reserves or under 18s results.

There are a couple of questions that need answering but there always are when you lose. Personally I believe that the Carling Cup is great for blooding players but you don't blood young players against Arsenal. With all due respect to them you blood players in cups against teams like Watford or Sheffield United- teams strong enough to be good opposition but teams you should beat.

Ive seen some knobhead calling for Rafa to be sacked on 6CM We played alot of youngsters, who dont look ready, but this is the perfect opportunity for them to play...a nothing competition. Sure they were shown up by the Arsenal youngsters, but it was bound to happen.

I had a feeling we would get smashed, and it turned out to be that way. Do i care? sort of...its not pretty to look at. But does it matter? no!

Why? because we have bigger things to worry about. namely Barca and catching Chelsea.

Positive thread but we can't hide behind the "We played a lot of youngsters" excuse cause the truth is we didn't. Guthrie, Peltier and Palletta were the only inexperienced players on the pitch. The rest were experienced squad players. Arsenal on the other hand had a far less experienced team on show!!

Thats 5 competitive games against the top 3 clubs this season and 15, yes, 15 goals conceded! Arsenal have scored 12 against us in 3 f*cking games. 15 against, 4 for.

Am I right now when I say under Rafa against the top 3 clubs we've played 21, won just 4, lost 12 and drawn 9?

can't believe anyone giving it the 'it's only the carling cup' excuse! This was a chance to win a trophy - this is what LFC is about.

I've never questioned Rafa as much as tonight, and I'm embarassed cos tomorrow everyone in work is going to take this piss out of me, my club, our players and our manager.

look if this was on at 7pm, i can assure you i would have watched it, but i knew we would be fielding an under-strength team and TBH that really doesnt entice me to get up at 3am to watch us. Dont get me wrong i LOVE liverpool, but the CC doesnt mean as much as the FA Cup or Premier league does it.

Fair play to the people that went to the game and "sung their hearts out". You should be so lucky, if i lived anywhere near Liverpool i would go to the games. But the fact is i live on the other side of the globe, and its just not possible. Ive only ever been once, and i watched us lose to Southampton at home in Houlliers last season.....i still thouroughly enjoyed every part of that day though...because i got to watch the Reds play.
