Agreed - this needs perspective. There was only Gerrard & Bellamy of the starting eleven who'd really be classed as first team - three if you give Sammi the benefit of the doubt but I doubt we'll say the same next season. This was simply our second string against theirs. When you chuck second team players against each other odd results happen - just check out our reserves or under 18s results.
There are a couple of questions that need answering but there always are when you lose. Personally I believe that the Carling Cup is great for blooding players but you don't blood young players against Arsenal. With all due respect to them you blood players in cups against teams like Watford or Sheffield United- teams strong enough to be good opposition but teams you should beat.

We played alot of youngsters, who dont look ready, but this is the perfect opportunity for them to play...a nothing competition. Sure they were shown up by the Arsenal youngsters, but it was bound to happen.
