I think you're talking about him in his present day state. He is certainly not as quick as he was pre injuries. He'll never be as good as what he was. Never.

Brilliant, I like that, leaves the rest of us to do it rationally.Originally posted by AFII View PostDo that, please. I'm tired discussing him.

I am not asking you to stick up for him, everyone to their own. I thought the incident with that knob lesaux was very funny. I don't really think he "dinted" the clubs reputation. Did you find the "snorting" of the line funny?Originally posted by Marky18 View PostNot saying he didn't care about the club, he sure as hell did but lets be honest it wasn't really that funny the incident with Le Saux when if i remember correctly he got a hefty fine and a suspension and in doing so dinted the club's reputation, i love him(as a player of course) as much as any Liverpool fan but it doesn't mean i should stick up for him when he's in the wrong.Did you see the size off those chickens?

Two things..
a) Fowler and Owen - At one point it was 47 Games - 39 goals out of 80. Says it all.
b) Fowler finished? Great players play the game at 'their' pace. That's why they're great. And that's why Fowler still outscores the others on our books.
It's time to use him more sparingly.. but finished is such a stupid word for a 31 year old bloke.

bollocksOriginally posted by Dhavlos View PostBollocks. It was vanity, arrogance and greed which motivated him into leaving. All the while he was writing in the papers that the thought of Gerrard leaving worried him and that he should stay and give the new manager a chance, he was negotiating a move away. And the little weasel paid for it with his career.
What a waste of talent.
so people go off paper talk, and what they suspect happens.
anyone know what went on?
anyone know what was going on under Ged?
So he was asking around, correction his agent was asking around before Ged left and who he saw come in. FFS i've just been in a takeover/change of managment and i'm doing the same doesn't mean i'm anyless commited to my work its just i want to make sure all options are open.
I could easily say Owen's move to Madrid was ambition. Lets not forget Stevie 2 years running nearly left cos things look that bad.He always said he wanted to win things with or without Liverpool and that's why he got no support from the fans.
And the England this England that - read every players autobiog and you'll see how much playing for thier country means to them.
Think he went for the money, think again
Owen was always rushed back after injury -
was that Ged rushing him back cos it was his only playing style or Owen on his thone insiting?
I like Owen and just cos he doesn't come across as a player to uproot trees for the club doens't mean he didn't.
I also had the privelage to watch him and Fowler week in week out.
2 of the best players I'm ever likley to see.
And how we could do with either one as a 20 year old nowIts times like these we learn to live again FF

Of course you are right. Owen was a massive player for us. BUT we love Robbie, Owen not so.Originally posted by redlancer View Postbollocks

I disagree mate it depends when you started watching Liverpool play I think younger fans would relate to Owen more because he was up and coming as Fowler was going down.Originally posted by looprevil View PostInteresting points. I think Fowler will always be God to the Liverpool supporters local to Anfield and probably in the UK. However, on a global scale I think Owen was the more popular and enjoyed greater popularity.
Fowler was/is the better finisher, no doubt. If only he had Owens pace.
Whereas older fans will remember Fowler better.
Fowler was/is one of the most naturally gifted finisher's football has ever seen, he can score any type of goal and didn't need Owen's pace as he read the game much better.
Owen was a class act no doubt but to me he was way to inconsistent.
He'd score 2-3 goals in game then he wouldn't score for 3-4 games.
Whereas Fowler was doing it nearly every game, plus his link up play was much better than Owen's.

Fowler, every single day of the week. He is more than a footballer, he is one of us. He went to Istanbul, because despite the fact that he didn't pull the red shirt on any more, he was still a red in his heart.
And that is why the fans love Robbie, because whatever happens, he has the heart. For me he is an icon for everything that Liverpool stands for (A few incidents apart). He is passionate, committed, he loves the club, and every time he goes out there, he tries his best for the team.
Owen does deserve more respect than some give him, and he did carry this team for a while, before Gerrard picked up the reigns, but for me he was always just another player in a way. It could have been anyone scoring them goals, it would have warranted the same reaction. But when Fowler puts one in the back of the net, the reaction is different, there just seems to be a bit more hapiness there.
