Joint best defence in the league

With 16 goals conceded on an equal footing with Manure.

it was only in the away matches we looked shakey, we're now sorting it out. Am a bit worried about the amount of goals we've scored, we could really do with thumping a few of the weakers teams 4/5 - 0

That was our problem last season. Still went into this season, and that's why IMO we've not really pushed on from last.

Reina is back playing really well which makes a hell of a difference to our defence. Agger is looking class, Finnan is steady as always and Carragher is over his early season problems which I suppose can be attributed to the World Cup and the injury he got at Bramall Lane. It's looking good defensively for the rest of the season.

The defence starts from the top and Kuyt deserves a lot of credit for his hurrying of opposition players. The team defends as a unit.

You're right there Dan. The clean sheets stats we've got over the last couple of months are exceptional, especially when you consider that our only defensive midfielder has been out injured during this time.

Since losing at the emirates stadium, Pepe has let in 1 goal in 12 matches.

In fact we have scored 29 goals and conceded 14 in our last 15 games.

              Pepe - 12 games; 22 for; 1 against, 1 draw, 1 loss, 10 wins
              Dudek - 3 games; 7 for; 13 against, 3 losses

                      Exactly!
                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

That zonal marking is ****ing ****e man! Pick a shirt up and put a player on the posts is the way to do it - never mind this defending a 'zone' - zone's don's ****ing score goals !!!!!

Our defence on the whole is excellent but as much as I hate to say it, so is Man U's. All we need to do now is score as many as them & we've got it cracked.

As good as our defence is, you can't help but feel that as it is such a team effort, it blunts us as an attacking option. With the Mancs it doesn't, they defend well as a unit but are so potent as an attacking force as well. As much as I hate to say it, they are the benchmark we must aim for.
