As good as our defence is, you can't help but feel that as it is such a team effort, it blunts us as an attacking option. With the Mancs it doesn't, they defend well as a unit but are so potent as an attacking force as well. As much as I hate to say it, they are the benchmark we must aim for.
I'm not sure I think we have had excellent possession and while our wide players do reasonable jobs defensively I think it is a lack of top quality (or possibly just needing time in the case of Gonzalez) that holds us back not the demands on them defensively. The one truely creative player we have is Garcia and he is not a real wide player. It's a tough balance to get, it has taken Fergie about 4 years to mould his current side and he started with a title challenging side and has spent enormous amounts on single players.

      Agreed.

Bellamy and Kuyt really close down the opposition well, with impressive workrate. When Momo returns we'll be even harder to break down. I know many like Gerrard in the centre, but I personally can't wait for Momo to return. Then Gerrard can go on the right where he can get forward more, roam more with Momo and Alonso covering.
