    Up and coming Centre Halves

With big Sami seemingly coming towards the end of his Liverpool career, still alot to offer if you ask me but you knwo what i mean, a replacement or two will be required in the not so distant future, with that in mind i'd like to see us go for a young(ish) English/British central defender to compliment both Carragher and Agger.

Here's a few that spring to mindin no particular order)

    Curtis Davies
A real talent, only 21 i think, pace to burn, good in the air, dominate, brave and can get you a goal from a set piece.

    Gary Cahill
Brave as a lion, good reader of the game, strong lad with a great attitude, latch ditch kind of defender

    Liam Ridgewell
Flourised under Martin O'Neill, excellent reader of the game, relatively quick and comfortable on the ball, thought he was **** last season but he's impressed me this season

    Steven Taylor
Reminds me of John Terry, defends for his life the lad, good presence and authority about him, pretty mobile to boot.

    Anton Ferdinand
Pacy as fook and a good overall defender, think he's quite a bit different to big bro Rio in terms of style, defends first and foremost but maybe isn't as good on the ball as Rio, then again not many are.

Where did you nick that from? 6CM?!

And the plural of centre half is centre halves...
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

We need someone who will dominate in the air. There is no doubt that neither Carra or Agger or even Palletta are a patch on Sami aerially. We will miss Sami when he moves on and we will be far more exposed in the air than we have been since pre 1999. Arguably he is the best defender aerially in the PL at the moment.

So in terms of replacements I am not sure - Dawson looks strong in the air for Spurs but I think we missed the boat with that one. Taylor has looked ok the few times I've seen him. Never seen Curtis Davis so dont know if he's over hyped or not.

A mate of mine is a Baggies fan and he doesn't think Davies is as good as people make out.

I think before we bemoan the failure to capture Dawson it is worth remembering how god awful he was when Ledley King was out at the start of the season.

The aerial presence and leadership of Sami is going to be hard to replace. Not sure there is anyone ready made to do the job in the PL. I do like Taylor but he is not nearly dominant enough yet. I would actually say that one of the most suitable replacements would be Luca Neill (I know not young or English but still).

Marky, I didn't realise you were so knowledgeable on the subject of young centre halves.

Davies - Not for the fee West Brom would want

                Cahill - Oh god no

Ridgewell - Seems to handball more than anyone else in the premiership, isnt quick, I'd rather have Cahill.

Taylor - Good player, young, english, out of our price range

Ferdinand - Good player, young, english, out of our price range

If we get the DIC money, I wouldn't have a problem with is spending 15-25m on a world class centre half, rather than a learner. Hyppia has probably given us more points (and an FA cup) than many of our forwards.
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

I really don't think there are that many candidates who would realistically improve our defence. Hyppia is slow, that's a given, but the only real problem with Agger and Carra is a lack of dominance in the air.

We're more lacking in the creativity and goalscoring front. If we get helluva rich, I'd imagine that we'd have a playmaker/wingers and a big name forward as our priorities.

I can't think of anybody out there that is as dominant as Hyypia is in the air. Not one Centre Half, well, other than Terry.

Not English but Cabral is a very good centre half I think he is 19-20
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly, who is possibly one of the few players that we couldn't buy even if we were stupidly rich.
