So the Informer may have been right after all ? Reckon Lucas Neil was also offered terms of 70k to sign for us but preferred a relegation scrap instead of fighting for honors.

in the epl we leaked soft goals like a seive for the rest of that season - the blueshyte finished above us ffs. hes as poor a player as ive EVER seen in an lfc shirt - i know he was a decent player once but I am faster than he was. he was LONG past it.

i accept we may have gained in the quality of hyppias performances through being able to rest him but it was at a price. the acid test: he was moved on PDQ.

certain excessively generous kt posters back then attributed some of our improved defensive organisation the following season to pellegrino. i dont believe that and ive read all the inside accounts of that time that are in print.

Ayala is WAY better a player than pellegrino ever was. an absolutele world class player - exactly the type of player we ought to be signing IN THEIR PRIME. even so, i think hed be a ver valuable addition to the squad - better than neil and light years ahead of pellegrino.
he wasn't moved on pdq he chose to go back to Argentina i think. he was asked to stay on. again in simple terms he wasn't bought to play in the first team week in and week out . most people admit he was poor playing for us but the other benefits are what he was bought for.

        quite simple really

Stop gap signing till the summer. Not bad this Ayala guy, getting on a bit but a tough nut.

Has he been naturalised into the EU or something?

Can't see how we're going to get away with all these non-EU players.

a bit like politicians saying they want to spend more time with their family when they get sacked. he was shipped out pdq.

                quite wrong really

he was bought to provide cover at CB and to allow hyppia and carragher to rest for some league games. the "other benefits" beyond this amount to zero except in the imaginations of some foolish and sentimental people.

Again i repeat he was not shipped out he was offered a contract extension and refused. Not sure how offering someone a new contract is shipping someone out. Surely that makes sense to you

So Rafa told you that he was bought for that did he? how do you know that he was not bought for other reasons?

did rafa tell you??? what is your evidence that he was? to my knowledge he was NOT offered any further playing or coaching contract. I believe i would have heard that information through various sources if it had REALLY happened. i have heard no more than vague allusions from posters on internet forums. many of whom - and this part is not directed at you personally mr marsh - talk nonsense and repeatedly make things up. i find this kind of perpetuated urban myth boring.

Id go so far as to say that anyone who believes pellegrino convinced lfc to offer him a PLAYING contract extension in the summer of 2005 need psychiatric help.

but he did allow Sami much needed rest, and as they say the rest is history.

I agree Ayala is way better,

If Ayala had been at Anfield and was set to sign then surely he would have been a guest at the match today?
