Crouch is brilliant and anyone who doesn't see why either doesn't watch any matches, or when they do, picks up their car keys instead of their eyes on the way out.

I've made plenty of constructive posts within this thread, have a read back through, I've explained myself, more than once, most of you just chose to ignore those bits, and still, whatever you say, not one of you has come up with a reasonable costructive argument that would make me think we can win the Premiership with Crouch.Originally posted by NICKZS View PostIt does when you portray yourself as such, though. If you construct your argument in a collected and thought-out manner then you will get a far better response and debate out of it. There's nothing wrong with a little heated debate, but this thread is littered with personal jibes and minimal-to-zero thought provoking content.
In any case, I hope Crouch goes on to convince you entirely that he is beneficial to Liverpool FC

I don't know, are you? Was that a question?Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostPlenty of those at me mate, but I'm not complaining?
Point is, you came in with a gung-ho approach trying to make a case for argument and it fell apart like a tower of cards on new brighton promenade. I can't be arsed having petty arguments over the internet, so if you fancy making a considered and factual argument on Crouch's apparent ineptitude then give me a shout

Ok, how about the fact that we finished with more points in The Premiership last year, with Crouch as basically our first choice striker, than we ever did with absolute top quality finsihers like Owen or Fowler as first choice?Originally posted by ElRobbienot one of you has come up with a reasonable costructive argument that would make me think we can win the Premiership with Crouch.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

It hasn't fallen apart mate, I've still not read anything to convince me he's good enough for title challenging team.

OK, can we please knock this on the head. Who would have thought we would have won the Champions League with Traore not only in the squad, but playing every second of 120+ minute final against AC Milan? We could technically win the Premiership with Crouch in the squad without him even playing a game, why not? He is not exactly draining our wage budget, not causing any unrest. He is always there, waiting in the wings for whenever we need him. Why you can't see Crouch as a valuable squad member is absolutely beyond me, and clearly the vast majority of people who unfortunately stumbled upon this thread.Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostI've made plenty of constructive posts within this thread, have a read back through, I've explained myself, more than once, most of you just chose to ignore those bits, and still, whatever you say, not one of you has come up with a reasonable costructive argument that would make me think we can win the Premiership with Crouch.

Didnt you realise that every player on our books should be world class and nothing less?Originally posted by NICKZS View PostOK, can we please knock this on the head. We should have a squad of 22 world class players so we can choose from whoever we want at any time.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

But still failed to break down the top teams, how many points did we pick up against Man Utd and Chelsea last season? 1 point from 12, even this season so far we've picked up 3 from 12 in our games against the 'top 4'. That's why we were behind them, so what you are saying really, in a way proves my point, we had a good season in terms of points, but if we had better results against the top 2 we could have done better, it was evident.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostOk, how about the fact that we finished with more points in The Premiership last year, with Crouch as basically our first choice striker, than we ever did with absolute top quality finsihers like Owen or Fowler as first choice?
That's where our problem lies, having that extra bit of quality in those games (and others where we can't break teams down) would help us bridge the gap, that's my point.Last edited by ElRobbie; 22-01-07, 01:54 PM.

Right, so what you are saying is that Crouch is very effective apart from when he is playing against the top 3. So why not have him in the squad for the other 32 games of the season??Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostBut still failed to break down the top teams, how many points did we pick up against Man Utd and Chelsea last season? 1 point from 12, even this season so far we've picked up 3 from 12 in our games against the 'top 4'. or maybe Rafa could have spent it all on the worlds best striker.. ShevchenkoOriginally posted by Kopite_Colin View PostOK with a Transfer budget of 25 mill for this year (you would have to add £7m for Crouch from last year's budget, as he ws bought last year) = £32m
With what money we had on the table and on the books I would have done the following:
Bought RVN for £10m when available, or Owen for £16m
Bought Kuyt for £10m
Kept Cisse
Played Garcia as 4th striker
Added a cheaper younger striker to the books, or gone for a proven goalscorer such as Klose with a reasonable buy-out clause (which would be less than £12m)
that's reasonable. And far more consistent goals potential than we currently have in the squad.
but no, Luckily Rafa knows what he is doing.
