    Players to improve our squad

Okay, scenario is that you have unlimited funds and 'can' purchase 3 players from any prem club outside of Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea. But they can't be just squad players, they must be players who should be capable of getting a starting place in our team, or a player with the talent to get into the first team if they are still young now.

i.e not a Nolan, who might be a good squad player if needed, but wouldn't get in ahead of Gerrard or Alonso and never will

but you could have a Richards, who may not shift Finnan straight away, but looks to have the talent to be able to do it eventually.

You need to say who they are, for what position, and who they would replace, doesn't necessarily have to be three, can be less.

I know he's not from a Premiership club but it's all about Alves for me - every single time I watch Sevilla he is outstanding. There's no wonder Rafa was so keen to get him. So Alves, for one...

We could do with a goalscorer to add to Kuyt, Crouch and Bellamy but frankly I wouldn't know who to bring in. Villa is a great player in Spain but if we spent a fortune on him I'd be racked with "the Morientes fear". However I don't think there's a striker in the Prem, who we could realistically bring in, that would improve us. Defoe and, although I like Bent, he's not LFC class.

Aaron Lennon would be interesting, but I'm still to be convinced he'll be top class. His end product is often woeful.

Could you not say that a player for the future is still a squad player??

He is in no way offers as much as Bellamy and his is not a great finisher.

Oh i forgot to add my choices:

                  Richards and Lennon for me

Lennon for the present and Richards with a view to passing Finnan in years to come

If we can go outside the Prem it gets interesting.

Yeah I forgot Richards - he impresses me greatly and he'd be a tremendous, versatile addition to the squad. At ridiculous prices like £20m though, we can forget it.

No because, Nolan for example will always be a squad player, but take Micah Richards who won't oust Finnan straight away but many would admit he looks to have the talent to do it eventually.

Lennon, and if he can play like he did yesterday consistantly Downing, Ledley King for Agger, trying to think of a decent left back in the Prem but struggling, perhaps thats why we dont have one?
