    .

i disagree, i play 5aside every week with work, i'm the youngest there by about 15 yrs, and am faster than most of the fat *******s put together.

but apart from the occasional bit of defensive help speed can get you, as long as you've got got footballing technique, your much better off

True. That's why Robbie would be a shoe-in. Jari Litmanen would probably be an incredible 5-a-side player.

      I'd maybe go for:
      Reina
      Xabi
      Stevie
      Robbie
      Kewell
Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

Pace of the calibre of Gerrards/Henry in 5 a side can be quite cumbersome... I'd imagine Stevie G on a burst through the middle could result in f all as both player and ball run out of room in no time in such a tight space... If I had Gerrard on the team I'd have him as the defensive player creating play from the back.
5 a side is all pass, move and technique. Masters Football is a great advertisement for it

Regardless of what Elmore says, i'd have pace anyday, that combined with simple passing in triangles will win the day over any 'fancy dans'.

I've become bloody ****-hot at fives these days myself... I've always had pace and decent tackling ability (favourite tackle in fives is the shoulder... legitimate and if timed right gives the attacker no chance).

I've been likened to Guttuso... i'll take that.

What happened you... are you not like 28?!?!

Masters is fine enough, but they're old men and an exception of how fives is played rather than the rule. They simply don't use pace and adapt to a style that suits them.

Fives is a bit like basketball.... as soon as you lose the ball you should return immediately to 'man up' and get in a defensive position (goal side)... that takes pace as ultimately you're looking to get there before the opposition.

Attack in numbers and defend in numbers, usually leaving just one back for cover (dependant on the score).

In the latter stages of my 29th year. I played solidly from the age of 10, both 5-a-side and, predominantly, 11-a-side for Sunday sides and also for work in national/European competitions (****ing inter-Governmental departments...you should seen the hatchet-men Turkish coppers...dirty *******s!). I packed it all in at about 23 though, when I moved here. I've played 5-a-side about five times in nearly six years, and haven't played 11-a-side once.

You do need pace in 5-a-side. Obviously there are no lung-bursting runs of 50+ yards, but those quick bursts, to beat the last man or whatever, are necessary.

Robbie is apparently ****-hot in the 5s but if we were in competition with the other 'top four' sides, with their elite players, I'd want Bellamy's pace in there.

                    God this is pointless.

Now the muscles in my body have given up without any warning at all, and waved that little white flag, he will become my template for 5-a-side success in my 30s.

It's really hit me in the last 10-12 months. It's unreal. I've always been a lanky streak of piss. Now I'm built like a brick-**** house - a slightly wobbly one - but it's temporary. It's a part of the transition into a fat *******.

When I run...to the shop or summat...I can actually feel movement in my breast area. It's distressing and depressing.

I was at my peak at about 20. I was unstoppable then. Earned myself the nickname "The Doctor" from my teammates after scoring 25 goals from midfield one season. Gone are the days....gone are the days.
