    Kewell to face Barcelona eh?

Bit of gossip on todays BBC site:

Liverpool winger Harry Kewell, who has not kicked a ball all season after developing septic arthritis in a foot, hopes to be fit to face Barcelona in the Champions League on 21 February. (Daily Mirror)

Would love to have him and in form for that game
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Ain't going to happen, Kewell would need to be fit and playing games by now.

He might be technically fit by that date, but not match fit.

        Have to agree.
MUst say, it irritates me to see LFC supporters suggesting that he only wants to play big games. I suppose Harry, orchestrated the whole thing back in the summer, when we didnt qualify for any latter stages of the CL, just incase we happen to bump into Barca in the first knockout stage, and held off getting treatment accordingly.

          Totally agree.

Elisha Scott on another site was saying Harry needs to be strapped up for 40 mins before every training session his groins are that fooked. He plays through the pain every game and lets face it for 3/4 of last season he was top class.

Lets all give him a break.

If Kewell was fit, I think he'd tear Barcelona apart! But unoftunately he lacks match practice.

Once he is back will this treatment be done with or is he virtually on his last legs and this is just to tide him over? Being strapped up for 40mins before every game is certainly not good. Feel very sorry for him, what a waste.

I really don't know I hope this latest treatment will finally put an end to it all but I can't see it some how.

Speedy will play in that game and I have a feeling he'll do well against spanish opposition

He did last season. I remember watching Sociedad play Barca and Speedy had a very good game - hit the bar with a screamer if I remember rightly and gave Belletti (?) a torrid time.

Gerrard is going to be on the right side in that game aswell

                      Reina
                      Finnan Carra Hyppia Aureilo
                      Gerrard Momo Xabi Speedy

Remember when we played Betis away in the Group stages? Rafa picked what, on the face of it, looked a very odd side, but then if you paid closer attention it appeared to be a team full of players with La Liga experience. To an extent, he may go the same way for the Barca game – i.e Aurelio and Gonzalez (Reina, Sissoko and Alonso are all certainties to play).

Could se riise playing at left full and possibly Aurelio playing in Gonzales position, whatever Gonzales form was like in Spain(impressive) it has been very ordinary for us. Despite us playing Spannish opposition, i'm not expecting anything special from him.

Gonzo has had too many niggling injuries and not enough starts to really establish himself so far. I can however see the logic in the argument that Spanish opposition might suit him. As Shaggy says, he impressed last season v Barca.

I watched the game, and he was impressive, often skinning Barca players with direct running towards the Barca goal, and hit a cracker of a shot off the post.
This game will be of a higher tempo though, cant see Gonzales getting the space he was afforded the last time he palyed them.
