if we can get a £20m rated player (which is what he was at the start of the season) for an 18 mth loan with an option to buy for a fraction of that price we'll have done well.

IFOriginally posted by Red Chilli View PostSorry tomas but that is naive. Steven Gerrard is our best player for 20 years, no question about that, and one of our best players ever. If Rafa can't get the best out of him and playing effectively then that is pathetic man management skills in my book and brings into question his ability to manage the club.
Stevie G is going nowhere. Why are you being so melodramatic?Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

Good International footballers don't always make it at club level in England. we can all name lots of top quality players who didn't succeed. however, we can all name lots who have succeeded. Mascherano does have it all to prove but so does any new signing. On the face of it, he has a better chance than most of doing the business. Even if he doesn't he will still be a very sellable asset to the Italian & spanish top teams. I don't see how we can really loose out on this one.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostInternational football is meaningless when it comes to club football though, as we all know. He's a lot to prove in my opinion.AKA Heighway No9

Well tomas said Stevie can **** right off if he gets pissed off playing on the right.Originally posted by Maestro View PostYES, BUT YOU WERE RESPONDING TO TOMASJ'S POST

You've got to admit, that's a stupid thing to say. Paying off Steven Gerrard's contract and letting him walk away would be very foolish.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Saviola was playing for Argentina at 22, he doesn't seem to be as coveted by our fans.Originally posted by Sir Bob View PostIts not hype with Mascherano at all. He's a first choice pick for Argentina at only 22. thats not hype, thats one classy player.
Sorry, but I refuse to get excited by this signing especially as it will almost certainly lead to Gerrard playing on the rightOriginally posted by Gordon Brown

Me too. Especially if it IS an 18 month loan deal first with a buy option at a fixed price.Originally posted by Sir Bob View PostGood International footballers don't always make it at club level in England. we can all name lots of top quality players who didn't succeed. however, we can all name lots who have succeeded. So we shouldn't buy another central midfield player in case SG gets the hump. Perhaps we should sack Rafa & let SG buy who he wants, pick the team & where he in particular plays. I want SG to play in the middle but that doesn't mean theres no room for Mascherano.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostSee above, re:Gerrard on the right.AKA Heighway No9
