Robbie was a great player, but the above stats show that he hasn't been for a very long time.

Don't get me wrong, he is a legend , but his skills have waned over time (largely through injury and lifestyle choices) and as such I will not be sorry when he is replaced.

I cant believe some people are dissing Robbie. He is a LEGEND of LFC. Ok he is not the same Robbie from years ago, but i would rather have a slow Robbie who has an absolute passion and hunger to play for us than say a quick diouf who was a complete wank*r and only interested in money.
I hope Robbie does get a coaching role.

I totally agree that when he was, when he was at his best, a fantastic player and because of that (coupled with some amusing off/on field antics) he is a 'LEGEND of LFC'

My point is simply the same as the one you are making - he is not the same Robbie from years ago.

And no, I would not have diouf at the club in place of Robbie - I have never made that point. I see no point in replacing any player unless the person you replace them with is better.

As you said yourself Robbie is not same player as he was, therefore, surely it is not impossible to accept that there are players out there who are better and therefore would improve our squad if they took his place.......that is just logic.

Too many would pick the team with their heart and not their head......thank God (no pun intended) Rafa is not one of them.

That's my point though - pre 99-00 season he was a fecking legend, it's just he has been consistently poor (albeit sometimes due to setbacks from injury) since then.

I love Robbie, but lets not get carried away, he is not what he was. When he goes, lets remember him in his pomp.

makes limited appearances but never complains

a popular squad player who loves the club and is happy with his role
