5 goals in 6 starts this season, and dont get into weak oppositions and all those bollocks!!
No I'm not, I'm just not living in the past.

The fact that you have pre-empted the 'weak opposition' arguement suggests that you know that it is true.

Anyway - lets look at Robbie's recent career shall we?

The following stats are for the prem only (so no weak oppositions and all those bollocks!!)

    Liverpool

    Season Apps Goals
    1999-00 14 3
    2000-01 27 8
    2001-02 10 3

    Leeds
    2001-02 22 12
    2002-03 8 2

    Man City
    2002-03 13 2
    2003-04 31 7
    2004-05 32 10
    2005-06 4 1

    Liverpool
    2005-06 14 5

I'm sorry but the above is not the record of a top striker

Robbie was a great player, but the above stats show that he hasn't been for a very long time.

Don't get me wrong, he is a legend , but his skills have waned over time (largely through injury and lifestyle choices) and as such I will not be sorry when he is replaced.

Love the guy, will always be a legend but it`s time to move on.Sorry.
If Crouch,Kuyt or Bellamy got a long term injury and then another picked up a knock in an important game then we`d be forced to play Robbie. Not a great scenario but we really need a better fourth choice striker.

as long as he gets a proper send off in his last game (ie. he got subbed off when someone was red carded for his last 'last" appearence)

then he'll be happy to have been given a second chance

Thats a bit harsh esp as injuries took their toll in his last seasons before he left, plus he had the huge frame of Heskey in his way (who never got dropped) whilst he was given scraps.

Look at his record before the 99-00 season.

Infact here is his career stats to date:

            apps as sub goals
            Total 463 (79) 214
            League 368 (60) 161
            FA Cup 23 (4) 16
            League Cup 25 (0) 22

I cant believe some people are dissing Robbie. He is a LEGEND of LFC. Ok he is not the same Robbie from years ago, but i would rather have a slow Robbie who has an absolute passion and hunger to play for us than say a quick diouf who was a complete wank*r and only interested in money.
I hope Robbie does get a coaching role.

In his heyday he was the best, and that is what I'll choose to remember.

I think Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish and most of all Billy Liddell may have claim to that title.

Obviously a generation thing, each to their own.

I won't be sad to see Robbie go, only when greats pass away am I sad, whilst they are still with us I will always remember them for what they gave us, eternal hope & entertainment and sometimes they made me smile with their antics!

I'm not 'dissing' the memory of Robbie Fowler

I totally agree that when he was, when he was at his best, a fantastic player and because of that (coupled with some amusing off/on field antics) he is a 'LEGEND of LFC'

My point is simply the same as the one you are making - he is not the same Robbie from years ago.

And no, I would not have diouf at the club in place of Robbie - I have never made that point. I see no point in replacing any player unless the person you replace them with is better.

As you said yourself Robbie is not same player as he was, therefore, surely it is not impossible to accept that there are players out there who are better and therefore would improve our squad if they took his place.......that is just logic.

Too many would pick the team with their heart and not their head......thank God (no pun intended) Rafa is not one of them.

Damn that Knee injury he had against the Blue****e.
He was never the same after that.
Robbie will always be GOD, inspite of everything.

That's my point though - pre 99-00 season he was a fecking legend, it's just he has been consistently poor (albeit sometimes due to setbacks from injury) since then.

I love Robbie, but lets not get carried away, he is not what he was. When he goes, lets remember him in his pomp.

His cup games to goals ratio is absolutely phenomenal

the idea of an injury prone player who the fans love because of what he did in the past.

a player who still knows where the back of the net is

makes limited appearances but never complains

a popular squad player who loves the club and is happy with his role

many would say there is no place for such a player at a title challenging team

                              3 words

                              ole gunnar solksjaer

we do need another top quality striker imo, but if robbie is happy to stay i would be delighted to keep him for another year- especially on his low wages

i don't see what harm it can do

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
