The thing is - something prompted the new Gillet approach. Find out what and we'll understand. It didn't happen by tossing a coin or luck. Either someone on the Board (Morgan) was working against the Club - or maybe Gillet is just a very shrewd judge. Talk about throwing a grenade in. His business portfolio is absolutely massive - he's definitely no mug.Originally posted by Morphorino View PostSeriously tho, did no one see something like this coming?
As soon as I saw Gillette linked with us again week before last, I thought it would spell bad news for the deal. So can't say i'm surprised this has happened, just annoyed.
But just now nothing makes sense. No doubt at all - the Press will find the truth.

Interesting thing to say. What are DIC all about then, and why is there a misconception?Originally posted by Rosco View PostSuch laughable reactions (and it's the same on 6CM), mainly because of a misconception of what DIC were all about.Quit your jibber jabber!!!
Jermaine, you know the song Billie Jean...is it about the tennis player??

Me too. DIC too. Moores too I hope.Originally posted by Gazmo1 View PostGutted.
If Gillette failed in his bid would he be gutted - **** no.
DIC are supporters of this club, so they are already one of us. Gillete is a businessman **** who probably does not even understand the offside rule."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

People had grand ideas of a Sheik coming in and building us a stadium, buying us all the top stars in the world and guaranteeing that we'd win every tournament we entered (slight exagerration).Originally posted by saveferris View PostInteresting thing to say. They were, from the beginning, looking at us as a money making objective. I've said this all along. They weren't going to plough huge sums of money into the club, they were in fact looking for other investors to put money in so they wouldn't be risking their own cash.
The idea was to increase our revenues, turn us into a highly profitable company and this last bit is very much IMO float us on the stock exchange to make their huge return.
I'm not disappointed they've decided to withdraw their offer, I was never keen on them from the beginning but I felt they were a necessary evil if we wanted a new stadium.
