    Ahh OK.

Do you really think Mr Moores would commit us to a new stadium if it was completely dependant on someone taking over the club?

I'm sure it can be funded by LFC, but we would still be limited in the transfer market for a long time.
My understanding, mainly thanks to RS4, is that the stadium project IS going to happen irrespective of takeovers.

I know, but changing peoples prejudices about religions is almost impossible unfortunately.

I don't believe DIC have 100% walked away - I reckon they are just playing hard ball with Liverpool.

The only other alternative is that, for whatever reasons, the Gillet offer was far more attractive, DIC know this and aren't prepared to up their offer, and have walked away to save face.

You don't just walk away after months of work without a very good reason, so either they haven't walked away (my opinion) or they've been all but told that their bid won't win.

              Don't believe that Disco.

A DIC rep has just been on 5 live and he said our board were amateurish in how we conducted business.

              No chance of a u-turn.

Not sure if this has already been answered but a covenant is a promise or an undertaking made in a deed - a post-completion covenant in this context means promising to do something (or not do something) after the deal to sell the club has been completed. In other words, Gillette can promise now not to groundshare, but once he has bought the club, it is difficult to enforce that promise.

I think what is very interesting is that LFC said it would be resolved in the next few days.
IF DIC have pulled out and can't come back for 6 months, that's them out. Also the next few days suggests to me that LFC had almost made their decision to go with Gillett and given DIC the chance to pull out or up their bid to save face. Rather than just announce to the world that Sheikh Mo has been outbid by the lamb chop fellow

Nice. But we've always known that Moores and Parry were amateurs so nothing really new there.

In which case, Gillet has won and DIC have sour grapes.

By Sam Lister, Liverpool Daily Post

AMERICAN tycoon George Gillett could be in control of Liverpool FC within days, after takeover rivals Dubai International Capital dramatically pulled out of negotiations last night.

The Daily Post understands the investment arm of the Dubai government abandoned its £450m bid over a squabble sparked by LFC's demands for just an extra £8m.
It is believed DIC, owned by Sheikh Mohammed, felt club chair- man David Moores was playing the two competing sides off against each other and behaved "dishonourably".

Last night, Liverpool confirmed a decision on its future would be taken over the next few days with Gillett now the only candidate left in the running.

LFC have been impressed with the way the American has carried out negotiations but the clincher is the extra cash on offer, and his new acceptance that Liverpool will not share their new stadium with rivals Everton.

But, while DIC have access to almost unlimited funds, Gillett's $860m fortune is said to be more akin to that of current LFC shareholder Steve Morgan, with one insider last night describing him as "no Malcolm Glazer".
