On the North-West news they are runing a story and claim that there are 2 new bidders, un-named as yet. They still think that Gillett is the front runner with a gy called Tom Hicks going 50/50.

Anyone know anything abut this guy Hicks?

Also apparently the shares will be bought outright by both parties and the Stadium will be mortgaged in the same way as Arsenal did with The Emirates.

When I nipped back online (again) at work yesterday, and saw the news going along the BBC ticker, I felt sick. I refuse to believe there isn't a Red out there who felt much different. My initial posts in this thread were made in a haze of shock and bewilderment, but I hope I didn't say anything too daft. I think I may have said it was a "low, low moment for the club". Perhaps it wasn't quite that bad.

I'm still a million miles away from being convinced about Gillett and I'm still worried. I do trust Moores & Parry though. Somehow.

I for one am not feeling any better about this latest news. 2 Americans better than one? I'm not so sure.

My initial concerns have still not been allwayed - the DIC deal had the prospect of them underwriting the stadium themselves, while this deal will saddle the club with debt by mortgaging the stadium, and will be in the same position as Arsenal, needing to be in the CL every year to keep up repayments.

This still seems like a gamble from where I'm standing, and I fail to see how this is better than DIC.

Until we win #19 or the new stadium is paid off, I'll believe that this week is the biggest missed opportunity in our club's history.

1) Rafa says: "If the board decide to change and hear different people, I have confidence in them."
we all know how carefully rafa chooses his words. He didn't say Moores and Parry wanted to go back to gillet but the board...

2) "When they talked with him (gillet, my edit ) first, they told me he knew about sport, and I am sure the board will make the best decision for the club."
Come on that is such a subtle dig at the board, not parry and Moores. How can gillet and george bush's mate possibly have demonstrated that they know anything about sport!? just look at their pathetic record, whereas DIC are clearly winners in their Horsebreeding and Racing enterprises.

3) "Now, the most important thing is to make the right decision. The board, the chairman and Rick are listening to other people and I have been assured that it will be good for the club." Rafa could be implying good for the club in the long term and in the longterm DIC can still takeover. He doesn't suggest in this sentence in my view that gillet will be good for the club, he leaves it open. Why would rafa do that? we all know him well by now?

4) As for Parry there are things in his stament too that don't add up. Parry may act and dress like a clown, so this farce isn't inconsistent with past behaviour, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deliver in the end. He brought Rafa to the club and DIC to the table. He wouldn't be spouting all this trust me stuff if he didn't have something up his sleeve, clowns usually do!

5) It's obvious that some people on the board are faffing around, either playing silly buggers with moores for personal reasons or holding out for more money. The only way to deal with this and not divide the club into one side choosing DIC and another gillet and ensuring a messy and expensive takeover is to run with gillet's bid for a while. Make the right noises so as to get him to make his offer. once he does that then only a fool would choose what he's got over DIC's proposal. If they did they would either seem greedy or daft.

As i said at the beginning i'm really not worried, i'd even go so far as saying i'd be prepared to put a little bet with anyone that DIC will finally prevail and takeover LFC

1 thing I really don't get:
DIC was going to keep Moores and Parry on; Gillett allegedly wants to bring in his own people....
Why would Moores and Parry prefer Gillett? for 8 million quid? Do you guys really think that? Parry and Moores are fans. They would want to stay at the helm of the club. Something does not compute here! They have been selling DIC long enough that it sounds like someone else threw a wrench into the works!

3 throwaway thoughts:
1) I think the whole thing about DIC and Sheik Mohammed taking offense may be a clash of cultures. Possibly an unfortunate misunderstanding Maybe it can be cleared up?

2) Gillett and now Hicks? where did hickboy crawl out of the woodwork from?

I'm a little happier after hearing Rafa speak.

On News north west the BBC financial guy did say that Gillet and Hicks would buy the shares in cash and they would borrow for the stadium but the debt wouldn't be against LFC.

He did however say the board has handled this as well as we did our Carling cup defeat against the arse.
