But what if for some reason it was the only way. Perhaps morgan or granada or somebvody would have blocked the takeover once an official offer was made?Originally posted by Mumsafan View PostI'm not sure they'd reveal themselves to look so unprofessional just to do all this.
This way a "falling out over honour" is the only possible cover they can use to walk away, AND leave the door open.
I'm sure they don't care if it "looks" unprofessional as long as they win the club in the end.Lucky owes Kopdan £10

YesOriginally posted by Lucky View PostAm I really the only fool here that thinks this is all an elaborate strategy?
I have no inside info whatsoever but i sincerely believe that Parry and Dic are playing the press game.
1) They have a plublic falling out never having actually bid thus letting gillet in to the table as the sole option, where he is free to make any official offer.
2)Moores then rejects this offer excluding them from bidding again for 6 months.
3)Then a "change of heart" and last minute shuttle negotiations between Parry and DIC resolve the "dispute" between Moores and Dubai and a deal on favourable terms is reached.
4)Moores agrres to sell at £4000 accepting a lower price and is made life president for his generosity.
5)Parry keeps his job having played a blinder.
6)Old fart board members, greedy granada, and ambitious morgan are all stuffed and there's **** all they can do about it.

It may seem complicated but could easily be the simplest way to remove board objections / other rivals to DIC.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostNah... to complicated, and too many direct and detailed quotes from both parties (Dic and us).
The detailed quotes are necessary for the bluff otherwise it wouldn't work, plus no one has actually said anything bad enough that can't be fixed.Lucky owes Kopdan £10

Funny but i read the press statements as a way of keeping the fans on side, which is odd if they really have pulled out. If "honour" is so important to them why do they keep behaving in a seemingly dishonourable way by squabbling? It just doesn't add up.Originally posted by disco View PostI'm sure the same thing could have been achieved without all the press statements

Well, their honour is important, where as we acted dishonourable and this made them mad...allegedly. Hence all the sour grapes and snide remarks.Originally posted by Lucky View PostFunny but i read the press statements as a way of keeping the fans on side, which is odd if they really have pulled out. Does anyone feel that some of the statements out of Dubai are a bit ... vernacular? Casual phrasing, unbusinesslike terms, slang even. Perhaps Bascombe has edited them for local consumption, but they don't ring true in the language used (and not just the nasty words).
I can't be bothered reading through the various quotes again to cite an example, but I trust someone more thorough than me will back me up.

When I went to visit REDSCOUSER in Montreal around Crimbo time he introduced me to a mate of his. This Italian lad supported the Montreal Canadians hockey team all his life.
He was so positive about Gillete & how he ran the club. Basically he will support the manager if he needed moula to sign players & never interferes with the coaching side of the game.
He also mentioned that the majority of fans think the same of him.
It ain't earth shattering but a wee comforting hearing it from the real fans of that hockey club.I am Chief Inspector Jacque Clouseau.

I understand what you are saying. I remember reading it and thinking, surely an Arab wouldn't say "our guys". Another thing that struck me as strange, and if a true quote is quite petty was saying the American investors "wouldn't know Liverpool from a hole in the ground". But then again, I'm probably reading too much into things.Originally posted by JRC View PostDoes anyone feel that some of the statements out of Dubai are a bit ... vernacular? But I do think one point they made is valid, namely that the new owners will increase the debt at possibly a higher interest rate.
In any case, I think DIC's anger is understandable, even if their comments are inappropriate. Even on the BBC website it says Moores met the Americans secretly earlier in the week - and probably without keeping DIC informed. If that is the case, then in the absence of any reassurances from Moores you wouldn't be surprised if DIC jumped to conclusions.
I am still of the belief that this Gillett bid was never Moores and Parry's first choice, until it became the only choice.White liquid in a bottle = Milk
