It WILL be awesome when they actually turn out to be brilliant buys... PallettaOriginally posted by Chrono View PostIt's getting brilliantly ridiculous. Can anyone pull a full list of transfers for Jan? I'm getting excited by the future as I think Rafa has accepted that this is the only way forward with our constraints. Rather than pay 1-2m more than we are prepared to pay for a top player, we spend more than most grabbing the cream of the youth market a la Wenger. The interesting thing here though is that ours seems completely global which I think is pretty awesome.

SYDNEY FC and Newcastle Jets are already looking to the future regardless of the result of tonight's second leg of the minor semi-final - both clubs raiding the ranks of emerging talent to strengthen their squads before next season.
Sydney have pulled off arguably the bigger coup - signing highly rated goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis, who recently signed a three-year deal with English giants Liverpool, but who will be allowed to spend the next 12 months on loan with the A-League champions.
Bouzanis, 16, has been touted by the Liverpool coaching staff as one of the best keepers in the world for his age, and will be used as understudy to Clint Bolton during the coming Asian Champions League campaign. Regular second-choice keeper Justin Pasfield - having failed to dislodge Bolton over the past two seasons - will leave the club as soon as the finals are over.
Pasfield is expected to play in the NSW Premier League with Sydney United during the winter, and has been tipped to join Adelaide United for the next A-League season. Moving in the opposite direction is likely to be Reds striker Dez Giraldi.
Sydney FC goalkeeping coach Jim Fraser is excited about working with Bouzanis, a graduate of the NSW Academy. "He's one of the best 16-year-olds I've seen," Fraser said.
The year 11 student from De La Salle College in Cronulla, who returned last week from a fortnight trial at Anfield, said yesterday: "Obviously I didn't have to think twice about signing for Liverpool. I met a lot of the players, like Steve Gerrard, and they all made me feel very welcome. I felt at home straight away.
"I can't play for Liverpool reserves until I'm 17 years and three months, so getting the opportunity at Sydney FC in the meantime is a great chance for me. Jimmy [Fraser] has helped me a lot, so to keep working with him is a bonus. I'm going there [Sydney] to learn, and if the chance comes to go out there and play, I'll give it all I've got."
Newcastle, meantime, are also working hard to add a youthful blend to their squad. The Jets are looking to sign two AIS scholarship holders - striker Marko Jesic and wide midfielder Peter Cvetanovski, both 17.
For now, of course, the focus is on tonight's do-or-die encounter at a sold-out EnergyAustralia Stadium. Sydney FC coach Terry Butcher has made his intentions clear: "If we stay undefeated, we can't be defeated. Simple as that."
While protecting a one-goal advantage from the first leg won't be an easy task for the visitors, the Jets need to solve their own defensive woes to stay in the hunt.
Goalkeeper Ante Covic, whose form has been less than impressive since his arrival just before Christmas, has spent extra time on the training field this week to finetune his work on crosses.
Newcastle coach Gary van Egmond has offered some words of advice for his custodian, who looms as a key figure.
"Sometimes Ante can get a bit uptight about things, maybe he needs to relax a bit more," van Egmond said. "The encouraging thing for him, and us, is that his best games so far have been when we've played at home."
Meanwhile, Sydney FC chief executive George Perry has rubbished reports the club was pursuing former marquee player Dwight Yorke through the courts.
"We have not instituted any legal proceedings against Dwight, there is no statement of claim from Sydney FC whatsoever," Perry said. "What has happened is that the club has approached him about his leave entitlements. It's nothing to do with the time he was involved on World Cup duty [for Trinidad & Tobago], it's about the leave he took beyond that which far exceeded his annual entitlements.
"The only court proceedings in process have been initiated by his own management company, against us, for what they claim are unpaid agent's fees."
Just for the record, my team, the Jets won that 2-0.

Carson will be sold, IMO. Don't think Padelli will stay either - although he apparently played a blinder the other night for Italy U21 in the process of keeping a clean sheet.Originally posted by kopdan View PostSo we have

Very confident now that Reina will sign an extension -
