I don't want Gerrard as captain

    Of England.
He should concentrate on winning LFC #19. The England captaincy is a distraction he does not need.

    Thoughts ?

Why couldn't yer post this in the thread about Gerrad as Captain?

And I bet everyone who disagrees with his appointment if it happens will be a foreigner

Not sure. Beckham produced for his club while England captain. If it means we get a boost in profile as a club I'm all for it, otherwise I'm indifferent. Either Terry or Gerrard would make a good England captain.

He'd make a great English captain, I'm certain about that.
THe captaincy could have a poitive effect on him but on the other hand if/when England are not successful it will give the media another stick to beat him with.
rnm is funny, funny like funny haha.

          Goals 2006/7 (CS, PL, CL)
1: Agger, Bellamy, Fowler, Alonso, Garcia
          2: Gonzalez, Kuyt, Riise
          5: Crouch

Can I agree with his appointment even if I'm a foreigner?

It's not everyday you can lead your national team on the field as a captain...

YEah, id rather Gerrard only be concentrating on being LFC captain,
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

              * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I don't want him to be capt because it was bad enough having a jumped up Owen whining on about England twenty-four seven (who the **** are paying your wages again?).

Gerrard, as RS said should concentrate on LFC! England are destined to win nadda, nothing, **** all in the career of Gerrard irrelevant of who is captain - they have neither the mentality or the coaching staff. LFC on the other hand are ably equipped to compete at the top of club football (imo of course).

It would therefore be sensible if he concentrated on Liverpool - the majority of LFC would surely agree, little to gain lots to lose. Poll anyone?

All a moot point anyway as Terry is odds-on or possibly Fowler after recent exploits
                ...

I dont want him as England captain, let Terry put up with all the ****e that comes with it from the press. Being captain of Liverpool should be the biggest honour for any Liverpool fan.

Feck England and there feckin southern home ground ( if it ever gets finished ).

I want 100% given to LFC.

Come on, how can anyone sugest that you wouldn't still get 100% for LFC from Stevie G?

It wouldn't change his commitment to LFC, no way.

Im sure he would always try and give a 100%, but you've seen the ****e England mangers and England captains have got from the press. I just dont think he needs that in his life, im sure he wants the job and i know i am being selfish by not wanting him to get it, but im just being honest.

                          He deserves the England captaincy.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Fair comment but you did say "I want 100% given to LFC" and in my humble opinion, Stevie G is our most comitted player on the field.

Absolutely, it's no slight on Gerrard. The fact is he will be under more stress from the press and his England commitments will quadruple - FACT! Beckham, stated as much in that pathetic lovejoy doc.

Let me paint a picture we've got a big European game coming up and all the press can ask him is, what do you think England's chances are in the forthcoming friendly? - that will get right on my tits! No thank you, let Terry have it.

He's not superman, it will take it's toll.
