Everton came to defend and they defended well, IF Bellamy's goal had of stood we'd have been looking at a different game altogether, we just lost belief as the game went on but it's just one performance.
I suspect your dislike of Garcia is colouring your view. We consistently dominate games against teams in terms of possesion but don't score enough goals, particularly against good teams and well organised defences. The Arsenal games and the Everton games are good examples of this.

We've still created chances in these games though, look we've been on a great run of form without Garcia, just because things don't go our way in ONE game doesn't mean we miss Garcia.
Correct i'm not a fan of his but if i thought he'd have made a difference i'd say so.

You can say what you like about him, yes he is indifferent, but you know we was lacking his presence to create that one special pass or shot to win the game against a team determined to sit back.
was thinking the same thing as well, it was a perfect match for him to get us a goal or do a bit of magic.

We struggle to create good quality chances, that has been our biggest failing for years.

            Thats it in a nutshell

That said, i still believe theres a place for that "in the hole" player who can unpick blanket defences because we are regularly found wanting in games like the ones against the bitters.

For a club/team like ours we should be used to playing against defences like this, especially at home and with our record there, i just think its a sorry state of affairs that players of that standard and talent resort to long aimless balls and a general standard of play that lacks invention and creativity.
Its not as though we cant do it, the second goal against West Ham is testament to that, we tore them apart in 3/4 passes with quick feet, good vision and movement with the ball on the floor, I just believe that we get lazy in our approach play a lot of the time especially at home when Crouch is playing and the temptation to hoof it up front and survive on knockdowns and scraps from the front men is too great.

As for who we could use "in the hole" i dont believe Garcia is the man for it because of his poor ball retention and failure to see the killer pass when he has the slightest sniff of goal himself.
I honestly cant think of anyone who is realistically available and id like to see with us - Aimar is the obvious candidate but id have doubts about his physical strength to play english football and judging by Rafa's time at Valencia it would seem maybe Rafa isnt the greatest fan of his either.

I think Rafa bought Aimar from River Plate, think it was after Rafa left that Aimar fell back somewhat there.

However I do agree with you that we should expect blanket defences and should be able to either bypass them trhough the middle with a hole type player or with quaility wing work. Both were missing on Saturday and a hoof up the middle was meat drink for Everton.
