yes, but I doubt Villa would come here.
not that torres surely would, but I think that is a greater chance that he would.

I could live without our having a superstar (Stevie aside) if investment meant that we are no longer going to be priced out of getting a player for the sake of a few million.

The difficulty with having a superstar is that there is pressure to have the team play around him, rather than he adapting to a system of play. I would sooner have a number of very good players that we know will be able to adapt to the Premiership and the way Rafa wants us to play than a superstar with set ideas and preconceptions.

Besides our profile and fanbase is big anyway. Unlike Chelsea there is nt the need to both win and get massive players to increase their fanbase from its globally small size, the pressure on Liverpool is to win trophies; if we win a Premiership in the coming seasons our fanbase will increase.

The problem is that once we get the investment we will suffer from the Chelsea syndrome. That is,every team we approach for a player will think,"Hmmmmm, they can afford to pay 5mil more than most other teams".
We`ll find it hard to sign future players at decent prices.

Chelsea's problem is partly the amount of money they have, but partly also the ridiculous amounts of money they've offered for players worth half that amoun

e.g. We offer £10m for Duff, they offer £17m. They bought a couple of good, but not amazing, Porto defenders for £30m. SWP for £21m

          You get the idea.

We'll be more like Man U - we'll have to pay extra for players but as long as we maintain a reputation for not being taken for a ride we should be ok. (although, having said that, £17m for Carrick )

I suspect Milky means that he wouldn't class Simao as World Class, which I agree with. Very good player though

All things being equal, the Buyout goes through and Rafa is given a bankrole big enough to choke all of Godolphin stud.

Simao will be the type of player (honest, hard working, skillful, game intelagence and team player) Rafa buys, you wont see show ponies like Placcy coming into the team. The team will compromise of team players not cameo individuals

                  Henry will be a red.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Said it in an a live interview or was quoted as saying it by a journo.

Rafa rates the guy, I am sure he would go all out to get him.

If these Americans are going to put significant money forward for transfers, and it's still an "if", then all apart from Ronaldinho can't be considered pipe dreams, in monetary terms at least.

I see no reason not to go for these players if the money is there and Rafa wants said player.
                              I hate Polanski

/Just/ Henry will do me, thanks.

Why upset the apple cart with a host of top signings, just try & attract 1 if you can, with decent additions here & there if necessary.

No need to rush in with fools gold.

God, modern football is so **** that we have to resort to keep buying in better & more expensive players on higher wages just to keep pace.
