we dont need a left back as such
you can give out about riise/aurelio all you want but thats not where this teams troubles lie
    we need wingers
and we need at least 2 decent strikers.

imo we dont have 1 winger at the club.
its also my opinion that fowler aside you could say of all 3 of our strikers, yeah they work their arse off and bring others into play etc etc but not one of them is an out and out goal getter
we neither create nor score half enough of our chances.

All our current strikers are no more than support strikers, until that is resolved then we can't fix the puzzle, it might be width, it might be wing backs, it might be creativity through the middle, but until we know what strength we are to be playing to, then no amount of tinkering with the other pieces will get us the winning goals we so crave.

i think it just boils down to not having enough good players

Or team cohesion, playing as a team week in - week out.

Or is it more he didnt have that kind of money to spend?

I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

I dont think Rafa will be looking at star or not.

He will look at attitude and type of player and if that fits it might as well be Ronaldinho or Kaka.

                    raul??

Alvaro Arbeloa's move to Liverpool has been backed by his former Real Madrid team-mate Raul.
The young defender joined the Reds from Deportivo La Coruna on transfer deadline day and Spanish superstar Raul is tipping him to be a success.

He said: "Arbeloa is leaving when he is still very young, but he is a player with great potential and this is a step forward for him. He will be helped by the Spaniards that are already at Liverpool.

"Also, Spain will benefit because he will gain great experience playing in the Premiership and Champions League."

"His move is important for Spanish football. He will have an experience that I haven't, but something that I know from friends will hugely benefit him. You grow up fast when you go to a foreign country, you must adapt very quickly."

Villa and Alves could be realistic targets now...........I think with Rafa's reputation anything is possible with the transfer funds. I'd like to see a couple of premiership based players brought in...Morten Gamst Pederson has the potential to be worldclass at the right club!!
                      Dare we believe

TBF though mate, he's never been in a real position to do it.

So we dont have an accurate idea of whether it'd be his style or not.

Exactly, also Rafa has come out in the past saying his hands were tied by funds, can't remember the exact wording, hang on

"Following the defeat by Arsenal during the mid-week Carling Cup tie Rafael Benitez the Liverpool manager dismissed criticism of his methods. He even went on to blame the Liverpool board for failing to release more transfer funds and for being 'too slow' in the transfer market."
