It's not rocket science - Everton beat us 3-0 and can actually play football. That's what makes it more and more baffling that they didn't even try and win on Saturday.

Also, arguably, at the business end of the season Everton need points to have any chance of qualifying for Europe. Again, baffling that they didn't go for 3 points.

If that's their game plan, then fair play they managed it, but what a bizarre game plan!

and there is the crux of it Sara. People are slagging Everton off not because they put 18,000 people behind the ball but because it was Everton. I know I'm not from the area but on the grand scale of things Everton are really not that improtant. They'd get more narked off if we totally ignored them. I'd downplay the derby, call it just another match....then what would Everton have to look forward to? I wouldn't call them a small club...more just not important. They just aren't worthy of Liverpool's interest. If it weren't for the Merseyside derby all they'd have to look forward to would be the 3rd round draw of the FACup.

It's not pretty, but it shows the passion this game represents.

I know we never played well on Saturday, but I have never seen an everton side play a derby with such a complete and utter lack of ambition.

They played like a small team, and ****ed up a match I've been waiting for the whole season

no mate - the slagging off is because its everton AND they put 18000 people behind the ball.

there is a long history to the derby - in the 60's and early 70's everton were top dog and favourites to win most derbys. in the 80's everton rose again and derbys were hotly contested with kendal/harveys everton giving everything to win these games.

It really is noteable and worth making the point that the blueshyte's tactics are a sign of how far theyve fallen and the fact that theyve gone from champions to a truly "small club" playing in the same vane as all the other "small clubs" that come to anfield with no ambition beyond 0-0.

of course, the rivalry has got more bitter in parallel with evertons demise and that makes supporters of both clubs more likely to give stick out to the other but if you dismiss what people are saying as mindless stick then youre missing a large point and being a little ignorant of the history and tradition of the lfc/efc rivalry

I have to agree with this. For me the games against Everton are big games. I hate losing to them.
