I think Rafa has shown on a reasonably limited budget (compared with the other top sides) he can radically improve a squad which when he came was largely unsuited to his style of play. We have improved as a team each year he has been here.

If we look at Man United since they last time they won the league they have bought heavily to improve a previously title challenging team to get to a stage to compete with Chelsea. Each season their squad has improved but until this season all of the signings had taken time to adapt, improve and blend together into a team capable of playing well consistantly enough to challenge for the league. I think we are ahead of where they were last Christmas in most areas, before they added Vidic to the team. The problem is they had creative attacking players like Rooney, Scholes and Giggs and Ronaldo in the squad already aclimatised. We have Gerrard and Alonso who are capable of running and changing games but no out and out creative players. The type of players we need are expensive and so far in his reign Rafa has not had the money to bring that level of flair and consistancy. His successes so far and his previous record have more than earned him the right in my opinion to be given until the end of next season to show that he can mould a genuinely title challenging squad.

                FA Cup
                Super Cup
                Community Shield

Not to mention bringing a few world class players to the club, making our back 4 one of the best in the league - that clean sheet record
Bringing Steven Gerrard's game on another level and making Carragher one of the best defenders in the Prem.

Tacticially he's the best in Europe although he does make his fair share of mistakes too which can't be hidden, overall the pro's outweigh the cons by qute some distant when we're talking about Rafa.

Like everybody at the club Rafa will be under very close scrutiny to deliver. If he doesn't, he'll be out.

Is he the best manager for LFC, depends on your objectives. If our no.1 priority is to win the league then you can't possibly argue Rafa is the best man. I'd stick with him but he needs to show he understands what is required to win the league. despite all his brilliant work he has yet to show this quality.

that is actually a very good post marky, well constructed and very accurate assessment, of course it's your opinion but it's a very good one

Rafa has proven that he can do the job with a limited budget. He's always thinking of the future as his buying of young talent has shown

The only thing that will change is that Rafa will now start looking outside of Spain for talent as well

We have seen what Rafa can do without his Number 1 choice of Players, Now we will see How Good he really is

Rafa is the best man for the job, but he isn't perfect. I think we'll only see the true imagine of what he is trying to achieve with Liverpool when he is allowed to buy his first choice players. That said I still think we are a couple of years from winning the league.

                              I`m not totally convinced.
His rotation and different formations sometimes cause catastrophy(SP).I just wish he`d play the same 11 back to back and keep to simple a 4-4-2 formation.
That`s why i likened our situation to Ranieri and Chelsea pre-Roman times.
Is Rafa also too much of a "Tinkerman"?

Your points are valid but with Chelski there in a different world, i would be ashamed if we become anything like that. They have managed to become more hated year by year with their on and off field actions.

Rafa does make mistakes so do all managers, He's cut down his tinkering alot and has realized that if he plays the core of his team more often then the more success we will have MAYBE.

There are alot of factors towards the decisions to tinker we dont see what happens in training so i guess we have to trust him if he drops a player, even if we go mad if we see Stevie have a great game one week and then rested the next.
