Is Rafa the right man for the job.

Rafa for me is definately the best man for the job, i'm not sure there are many LFC fans out there who would dissagree at the moment.
Looking at things I doubt there are many managers in the world who would have done what Rafa has with the resources he's had at his disposal. Continued improvement in the league, and pretty much won all of the other trophies bar the CC. If there's one failing he's had it's been rotating the squad, in the cups which has led to us being knocked out on more than one occasion. With the money the yanks are hopefully going to put in, that shouldn't be an issue, because we'll have more quality through the squad and I think we'll see us go far in all the cups next year.
As for the league, well I think we're only short one or 2 'superstar players' who can litteraly win a game on their own (Drogba, Ronaldo, Henry etc). These are the types of players who turn drab 0-0 draws like Saturdays borefest into wins, and if Rafa can secure one or two big name players then I have no doubt we'll have one hell of a chance of going all the way in league next season.
One things for sure it's going to be an exciting summer.Thomas Hicks Senior

Top post Edna (as usual)Originally posted by Frank Leroux View PostMaestro (are you ViennaMaestro?) - I don't agree with the idea that because you suggest a problem you must also suggest a solution. I had never heard of Benitez before he got linked to us. Mourinho? Who (before Porto knocked Utd out)? I don't know who's out there.
I'm afraid that Benitez's style of play is too, eh, regimented (maybe) for the English league. He buys players - and sets teams up - to get a hold of a game by suffocation (like Houllier - but further up the pitch) before releasing the hounds to go win the game. I know nothing about the Spanish league but if the stereotype of the patient continental style holds true then it adds up in my mind.
So, as far as a possible replacement is concerned - IF it ever comes to that - it would have to be a Wenger/Ferguson-type who plays a higher tempo. Not Mourinho - he strangles.
I'm not sure but I can't see the Blackburn team who won the title being a specifcally 'possession'- based passing team. I don't think it's an accident that Dalglish, Ferguson and Wenger have managed PL winning sides.....
Frank.
Another MASSIVE game
