the emirates cost 390m. they NEED that 100m for 10 years. These rich fellahs should be building our cheap in comparison stadium as part of their deal WITHOUT naming rights being an issue

the thing is Arsenal's stadium is not called the Emirates at Ashburton Grove, its just called emirates, so we'd never get adidas stadium, anfield.

"it's another classic european night at the adidas"? no thanks

i'd personally hate to have the name of a sponsor as the stadium name.

call it stanley park and put your hands in your pockets Hicks. you'll win respect faster that way

call me naive but that's what i think. **** having an extra 20m a year for a player. the new stadium, better shirt sponsorship deal and consistent top 8 in the CL should do that.

we've sold enough of our soul for one week thank you

If that £20m was the difference between 1st and 2nd?

Personally, I dont think the name is an issue. Moores and Parry will have a say about the matter so they'll know what the fans are thinking BUT surely naming a new stadium isnt selling our soul as the ground isnt even built yet

Who cares what the stadium is called?,it`s how we play in it that concerns us.

I can't understand at all why selling the name of the new stadium would selling our soul.

The new stadium will be a completly new stadium. We won't play at Anfield anymore. It would feel wrong to put up the This is Anfield sign at the new stadium because it won't be Anfield.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Looking at it another way though, the site of the new ground is on Stanley Park...which is IN Anfield still.

Funnily enough, as stadium names go, i dont really like 'Stanley Park' all that much.

I saw that, 3/1 for Coca Cola.

But at this stage, unless someone has inside knowledge, it's anyone's guess. I cant see how bookies can decipher that Coca Cola are the most likely sponsors.

Some companies were already in the running as soon as we revealed plans to build a new stadium.Having yank owners increases the chance of the sponsor being yank.Do Coca cola sponsor any other stadiums in Europe.Do they need this type of advertising?

We`d need a flu epidemic for that much coughing.

we're assuming that the "extra" 20m would go on a player. Players come and go but the new ground is our home for the next 100 years conceivably (all debates about global warming/WW3 aside) so i don't think its trivial.

To finish 2nd one year still gives us a shot the next- and with all teh extra clout from teh stadium, other new revenue streams that these guys will supposedly exploit and the extra money these guys should be bringing to teh stadium every summer anyway we shoudl have more than enough.
i am not one for bying the title at any cost no matter what. we might as well be chelsea then

once the stadium name is sold thats it for a long time.

Lets say that in 10 years emirates finish their association with arsenal and there is a delay in finding or they cannot find a suitable sponsor at all. It becomes arsenal playing at home at the "Your Brand Here" Stadium

                              Not for me

                                Compromise?

1.Not considering naming rights would be daft - lets see what it could bring in.
2.That said, I empathise with the view that retaining Anfield is an appropriate way of maintaing our heritage.
                                3. However, we can all call it Anfield anyway. Who cares what Richard Keys or whoever calls it?
                                4. One compromise is, as has been suggested, retaining Anfield in teh full name, eg The Adidas Anfield Arena
                                5. One other way, which I favour, is to let the stadium be called whatever but name each of the stands appropriately. The Shankly Stand, The Paisley Stand are obvious. One end could be the Anfield Kop and the other left as a neutral name to allow a future legend to be honoured.
